Ellie’s POV

Axel instructed Lily to retrieve the necklace from wherever it was. But I didn’t trust that snake. “Tell Jaxon where it is, and he can get it,” Sam instructed.

“I don’t want him going through my underwear drawer. I have private stuff in there,” Lily protested.

“Private?” I found myself holding back a snicker. “I bet nothing about you is private. Especially what’s in your underwear drawer. I bet you tell everyone everything. So don’t try to pretend you’re hiding anything private,” I said, disgusted at her. I wanted to be the one to end one of them. But knowing what they were going to endure gave me a sense of satisfaction.

I watched Jaxon disappear inside the packhouse. Lily whimpered a single word, “Mate.” I thought she was talking to Axel, so I didn’t look at her. She was probably trying to get him to protect her. But when she repeated herself, I looked at her to mock her. It was then that I realized she was crawling towards Reagan. “Mate. You’re not going to let her hurt me, are you?

“Lily, what are you doing? I am your mate?” Axel questioned her.

“If it weren’t for you, I would have had a strong mate, a man, a king. I would be part of the royal family. Instead, l am stuck here in this useless pack. While she…” Lily pointed at Sam, “becomes royalty.” Lily crawled again towards Reagan.

“Lily, you chose me, and I chose you. You are my mate, so what are you calling him, mate?” Axel asked in confusion.

Lily carried on crawling toward Reagan. Reagan looked at me and smiled. He then looked at Lily. Kiki snarled, and I suddenly felt possessive of Reagan. “Get your filthy claws away from my man,” |warned. “After what you said to him, you’re not even worthy of sharing the same oxygen as him.” I then grabbed her foot and dragged her away from the man I had chosen as my mate. While I was dragging her, her dress split. “What do you expect when you wear a dress that would fit a child?” I heard snickering, but no one said anything. “Mate,” Lily cried out. Hoping either Reagan or Axel would come to her rescue. I walked to Reagan’s side, and he took my hand

“Luna, the only thing I’d do for you is thank you for rejecting me. Your actions are your own. You will both get what you deserve,’

” Reagan informed Lily.

Seconds later, Jaxon rushed out of the packhouse. He held a delicate chain in his hand. Sam rushed toward him. But in her rush, she didn’t think of who she had to pass on the way. Lily sprang to her feet and grabbed Sam around the throat. “I demand safe passage out of this pack. I get it, or I’m going to snap her neck,” Lily spat. Sam snickered.” I’m serious, I’ll do it, Lily threatened.

“I’m not the walkover you once knew, Lily.” Sam grabbed Lily’s wrist and pulled it away from her throat. She twisted her wrist and grabbed her elbow, bending so that Lily had a chicken wing. Lily screamed when Sam forced her arm further behind her back. Sam pushed her to the ground. “I am not the naive girl who once thought of you as my best friend,” Sam yelled as she grabbed Lily by the throat, punching her in the face. “I may not be the best version of myself yet. But I will always be better than you.” She yelled, kicking dirt in Lily’s face. Sam then walked to Jaxon, snatching the chain off him and returning to my side.

I had not seen this side of Sam before. I didn’t like it. It’s good to know she’s capable of protecting herself.

“Axel told me it was because the two of you were sleeping together. I never thought of challenging him.” Sam poked him in the chest.

“That is part of the Beta’s role.” She sneered through her gritted teeth.” I bet you never even filed a report on his death, did you?” Jaxon looked ashamed. “I hope for the pack’s sake. Xavier finally makes a man out of you. Because, as far as I can see, you’re a boy wanting to play a man’s game.” She then smiled. “I doubt you will survive a day with Xavier as Alpha.

“Beta Jaxon,” Xavier yelled. “My first order as your Alpha is to get these two out of my pack. It is the Luna Queen’s order, and I agree with her – decision. I don’t want the Shadow Pack associated with anyone who acts so dishonorably.”

“Yes, Alpha.” Jaxon acknowledged Xavier’s command. I bet Xavier is testing him. This will show who Jaxon is loyal to. It will be interesting to see the results.
