Alpha’s Betrayal Luna’s Revenge (Samantha) novel Chapter 95

Ellie’s POV

I never knew what Axel looked like. However, I had seen the man before me somewhere before.

I could have stepped in and defended Sam as Axel berated her. But she said it herself, she needed to be independent, to figure out who she was. My stepping in and fighting her battles for her won’t help her.

That wouldn’t stop me from being there to support her when she needed it. That’s what I also told Reagan when he went to help her.

While they bickered. I tried to remember where I had seen Axel’s face before. I jolted when I remembered. He was the man who cleared the path for me to enter the palace gardens. Assuming he was the man, the woman he was dragging must have been her. The power-hungry bitch who betrayed Sam. If I’d known it was them, if I’d known they were there. I may have gone after them. But then I may have been too late to save Sam.

“The pair escaped with their lives that day. Let’s see if they escape today,” I told Kiki.

As Kiki and I planned Axel and Lily’s deaths, I tried to remember what Lily looked like, but all I could recall was her vulgar outfit and that I believed she belonged in a brothel, not a palace.

I was so distracted by what was happening right in front of my face.

That was until she appeared. A phrase my mother used to say popped into my head, and I couldn’t help but share it with Kiki. “She looks like a pig in pants.”

“Don’t be horrible, Ellie. That is an insult to pigs.” She responded, snickering. As she shouted and bawled, I couldn’t help but snicker at how pathetic she was. When she was describing what she did to Sam’s necklace, I felt she had gone too far. Kiki reassured me that if the necklace was so disgusting, Lily’s vanity would have prevented her from swallowing it. She believed Lily was only trying to get a rise out of Sam.

I couldn’t believe it when Lily began insulting Reagan. Sure, Reagan was a few years older than Lily. But that made him more experienced.

He may be an amputee, but he was still an exceptional individual.

When I looked at Reagan, my heart hurt seeing how Lily’s words affected him. He didn’t deserve that.

Reagan’s words from earlier rattled around my brain. He was prepared to give up everything to be with me. He was offering me a future I never considered possible, including a family. Despite what apprehensions Kiki and I had, we felt we wanted to try. If for nothing else, for our happiness. “Are you as dumb as you look?” I yelled without thinking. That’s when I started running my mouth, questioning the wolf goddess’ decision to mate an amazing man like Reagan to that! Before I knew it, I was suggesting Reagan be my mate and taking his hand.

Reagan must have liked what he was hearing as he demanded Lily retrieve Sam’s necklace.

Lily looked at Axel and smiled. “If she is not going to beg me for it.

You’re never going to find it.” She shouted, still trying to control Sam with the promise that she would return the piece of jewelry to her.

Sam sighed. “You know what, it’s not even worth it.” Seeing Sam so defeated, it was time to do what families do best: support one another.

want that damned necklace, and I want it now. Or I will do everything I just said.” I screamed.

“Ellie. If you kill them, they will only suffer once.” Reagan smiled at me.

“Perhaps if they got you the necklace, you could consider letting them live.” I was about to tell him there was no way I was letting the couple walk away alive. “You let them keep their lives, but condemn them both to a fate worse than death. A life together where they have to fend for themselves.”

“They wouldn’t survive a night without someone wiping their ass for them,” Sam yelled. Perhaps that is what Reagan was aiming for. I still believe a painful death is what they deserve. But Reagan has a point; they would be cast out of the Shadow Pack. Packless and powerless, they wouldn’t have any resources or money. Every day, they would be miserable, knowing what they had lost. Scared they would eventually die. But they would at least have each other.

“You can’t do that,” Axel just about managed to say. His outburst caused both Reagan and me to smile at each other. “As the former Alpha King, I may not be able to demote an Alpha. But as the brother of the current Alpha King, he will do as I ask. Especially when it comes to his mate, not getting what she desires. Her happiness is his priority,” Reagan informed Axel.

Despite the pain I was causing Axel. He was finally figuring things out.

His fear made me smile. Regan may be onto something. “Fine, I’ll let them live. If I get that necklace.” I reluctantly offered, rolling my sleeves down.
