Derek sat in his luxurious hotel room, with an untouched glass of whiskey in his hands, staring blankly around the room. His mind racing with what Ella’s decision might be. Just then a strange feeling surged through him, pulling at him.
His chest tightened immediately as an overwhelming wave of pain hit him. His wolf, Leo, roared inside, restless and furious.
He held his chest as the glass of whiskey slipped through his hands and landed on the carpet.
“Ella’s in danger.”
The words left his mouth before he even realized he had spoken. He clenched his hands into fist by his side, his heart was pounding violently. He didn’t know how or why, but the mate bond was screaming at him, pulling him. Something seems wrong, he could tell.
Meanwhile at the same time across town, Valen, who had been sitting in his office felt the same pull. He had been lost in thought when a sharp pain struck his chest, nearly knocking the living breath out of him. He shot to his feet, eyes widened.
“Ella’s in danger” he growled.
Without hesitation, both men rushed out from their respective locations.

Derek stormed out of the hotel, his presence radiating authority and urgency, the tension in his movement very obvious. “Do you think it’s Valen?”
“No, I don’t think she’s in the manor” Leo responded.
“Then where could she be?”
“I don’t know. Damn it! But I can feel Lila reaching out to me through the bond” Leo growled angrily.
“We need to find Ella. Now”
Derek made his way briskly to his car, his hands tightened around the wheel as he sped off, his mind racing.
Where’s she? Who could be hurting her? Different thoughts ran through his mind as he raced.
The Bond was his only guide, it wasn’t precise but it gave him a strong enough sense to know she was still within the city. His wolf growled in frustration.
“We should be faster,” the beast inside him snarled.
Derek’s jaw tightened. He agreed and stepped on the accelerator pedal, increasing his speed.
Valen on the other hand hurriedly strode out of his manor. Dorian who noticed the tension in his movement caught up with him.
“My lord, what’s wrong?” Dorian asked concerned.
“Ella’s in danger, I need to find her. Now”
Dorian didn’t ask any further question, he simply nodded his head. “Let me get some guards and we will go search for her.” “No.” Valen said stopping him. I will handle this myself, I don’t need words to get out and besides, I think I know where she is.”
Dorian watched as Valen took off like a speed of light.
Valen had gone to the club last night after emptying his soul to Ella. He had only returned early this morning and now something is pulling him back there, his instincts screamed that Ella was nearby.
He wasn’t sure if Lucian was back to the club because they both left together.
He reached the entrance of the club and pushed the doors open. Inside, a few staff members were cleaning up, oblivious to what was happening.
What could Ella be doing here this morning?
Valen’s jaw clenched as his sharp eyes scanned the room. Then he spotted someone familiar-Lucian.
Lucian stood near the bar casually drinking from a glass as he watched his staffs go ahead with their duties. He looked up in surprise as Valen approached.
“Valen?” Lucian raised a brow. “What brings you back here so soon?”
“Ella,” Valen said, his voice sharp. “She’s here, isn’t she?”
Lucian frowned. “Ella? No, I haven’t seen her.”
Valen growled, grabbing his friend’s collar. “She’s here. I can feel it.”
Lucian sighed and gently eased Valen’s hand off. “Calm down. I’m just coming in. If she’s here, we’ll find her.”
Valen didn’t have time to argue. He stormed past Lucian, his senses heightening as he tries to connect to the bond, to feel her presence. Then he caught it-her scent.
His eyes darkened. She was here.
And she was in trouble.
He turned sharply. “This way!”
They ran.
Derek reached the door first. Without hesitation, he kicked it open. The sight before him made his blood run cold.
Ella.
She was sprawled on the floor. Motionless.
“Ella!”
Both men rushed to her side. Derek fell to his knees beside her, his hands trembling as he lifted her into his arms, his heart hammering. Her skin was cold. Too cold.
“Damn it!” Valen cursed, his fangs elongating in frustration. His hands clenched into fists, his crimson eyes redder than ever. “Who could have done this to you?”
Derek reached out and brushed her hair from her face. Her lips were pale, her breathing weak. But she was alive. Barely. His thumb brushed against her cheek. “She’s freezing.” His wolf howled inside him, filled with helpless rage.
Derek looked around, his angry eyes scanning the room, then his gaze dropped on the cup that has fallen not far from Ella. He took a sniff, his eyes widened in fright. Fear overwhelmed his body as he muttered.
“Wolfsbane.”
“What!” Valen exclaimed sharply. “We need to get her out of here. Now!”
Derek nodded. There was no time to waste.
With Ella cradled in his arms, he rose to his feet.
Neither of them spoke as they left the club.
They had found her.
But would they be able to save her in time?
