Alpha’s Regret: My Rejected Mate Is A Healer novel Chapter 99

Ella arrived at the location Sandra sent to her. She stared at the clubhouse. It was the same one Valen had brought her, but this was just morning, so the club wasn’t bubbling yet, as it does at night. The morning light made the place look less intimidating than it did at night.

She looked around and couldn’t find Lucian, Valen’s friend and the owner of the club. Well, seems he hasn’t turned up for the day yet. A few staff members moved about, cleaning the mess left behind from the previous night.

“Excuse me, miss. Are you looking for someone?” a young man’s voice broke the silence. Ella turned to see a handsome vampire dressed sharply in the club’s staff uniform.

“Yes please,” she said briskly. “Where can I find the very private suite in wing C?” Ella asked, her tone firm yet polite.

“Pls come with me.” The vampire bowed slightly and gestured for her to follow him.

The vampire led her through the quiet corridors to a small, unmarked door. He stopped and gestured towards the small door tucked at a secluded section of the club. “We’re here, miss, this is it,” he said as he bowed slightly.

“Thank you” Ella murmured, her voice steady.

Ella took a deep breath as the vampire left, her hand hesitating on the door handle. She wasn’t afraid; rather, the person who should be afraid was the one on the other side of the door.

She opened the door and stepped in; inside, it wasn’t as dark as she had pictured. In fact, it’s fully lit up and well-decorated. Sandra sat in the middle, before her was a table laden with different food and an opened bottle of wine. Sandra sat relaxed, sipping wine and nibbling on a pastry as though she hadn’t a care in the world.

Her eyes lit up when she saw Ella, her lips curving into a sweet smile. “Well well, if it isn’t my dear sister, welcome”

Ella stood rigidly by the door, her gaze fixed on Sandra. “Sandra, I’m not here for pleasantries, you know why I came,” Ella responded with a cold expression.

“At least come have a seat; there’s no reason to be in a hurry; we have a lot of catching up to do,” Sandra said, smiling as she gestured toward the chair across from her.

Ella didn’t want to sit, but she knew she couldn’t force the answers she needed from Sandra. Sandra would only talk if she wanted to. Reluctantly, Ella crossed the room and sat down. Let her just play along and see what she has in mind.

“You said something on the phone” Ella began, her voice laced with impatience. “I’m here for answers Sandra.” Sandra chuckled softly, pouring herself another glass of wine. “Oh, come now, don’t ruin the mood. It’s too early in the morning for hostility. Let’s enjoy breakfast first and then we talk. I wouldn’t want all this food to go to waste.”

Ella could feel her anger stir up, her fingers clenched into fists beneath the table. “I’m not in the mood to eat Sandra” “Why? You don’t want to eat with me? Do you think I will harm you?” Sandra asked pretending to be hurt.

Ella took a deep breath to calm herself down. She knows she can’t trust Sandra; she can’t let her guard down, not even for a second. Her eyes scanned the table, searching for anything out of place.

Sandra smirked and leaned forward, “Don’t worry, dear sister, I can’t poison the same plate I’m eating from; with that, she reached across the table, plucking a piece of meat from Ella’s plate and popping it into her mouth, chewing leisurely as though to prove a point. “See? Perfectly safe.”

Ella reluctantly picked up her fork and started nibbling on her plate. The food tasted like chaff in her mouth. Her mind wasn’t on the food but the informations Sandra was withholding.

Sandra poured the last drop of wine into her own cup. “Oops seems the wine is finished. I’m sorry I had been drinking while waiting for you, I didn’t realize I had downed a bottle of wine,” Sandra laughed. “But don’t worry, that isn’t a problem; let me ask the waiter to bring another bottle of wine.”

Sandra pressed an intercom on the table, and soon enough, the guy who had escorted Ella in arrived and bowed.

“A bottle of the same wine for my sister, please,” Sandra said, her tone light and pleasant.

Ella’s head was bowed as she ate so she didn’t see the silent interaction between Sandra and the young vampire.

Soon enough, the young vampire returned with the wine; he opened it and poured it into Ella’s glass.

“Thank you,” Ella said, nodding at him. She picked up the glass and took a sip. Seeing that, Sandra’s smile turned sinister. The young vampire nodded and left.

“When you’re done with eating, sister, we can talk,” Sandra said, smiling as she leaned back in her chair, swirling her own glass of wine.

“Kevin was already working on the plague then. I collected a sample and mixed it in your water. Do you remember the glass of water you took from me the day you threw up in the bathroom? Yeah, the water was plagued” Sandra smiled evily.

Ella recalled the day her stepmom had woken her up, and she had run into the bathroom because she couldn’t control her stomach. Sandra had taunted her and hinted at her being pregnant. She had offered her a cup of water for her stomach and Ella had taken it without suspecting a thing. She also recalled that she had miscarried her pup soon after leaving the pack. Alpha Moore had found her almost dead; he also fell sick during that point, and that was how the spread of the plague had begun. Ella finally pieced everything together as she stared angrily at Sandra.

“You…” Her voice cracked.

“You should have died 5 years ago, Ella. But no! You chose to become the renowned healer, destroying everything we’ve worked hard for; you even dared to return to the South.”

Ella’s eyes widened as she heard that.

“Yes, I was the one behind the Rogue’s attack against you. Kevin can’t find out you’re the healer; he might go soft against you, and I couldn’t watch that happen. We had fallen apart since I couldn’t give him an heir and he had never ceased to mention your name, comparing me to you.” Sandra said. Pain and anger were evident in her voice as she stared at Ella struggling on the floor.

Sandra crouched beside her, her voice dripping with mockery. “Don’t try to fight it, Ella, that’s wolfsbane, and you know how it works. The wolfsbane in that wine is strong enough to bring even an Alpha to his knees. You can only survive that if you have alpha blood, but unfortunately, you don’t. You’re just a nobody!” She spat.

“Say hi to your parents when you get to the afterlife.” And with that, Sandra straightened and walked out, following a secret door Ella never knew existed.

Ella tried reaching for her wolf but she could feel Lila battling the wolfsbane too. There was no means to call for help. She felt life draining out of her, and at that moment, she wished her mates could save her.

At that same moment, Derek and Valen stood up abruptly at the same time from different locations. They could feel the mate bond calling out to them.

“Ella’s in danger,” they said at the same time.
