“I will be stopping by briefly in Devil’s City, target was last seen nearby.”
Derek stared absentmindedly at the text he had just received from Alpha Kael.
His fingers tightened on the phone. Kevin was last seen somewhere nearby, and Drake had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, was there a connection? Does Kevin have a hand in this? But how did he even know where to find Ella?
His mind immediately recalled when he had gone to rescue Alpha Moore and had sought Kevin’s help to rescue Doctor South. Did he discover Ella and Doctor South were the same person? or Is this his way of taking revenge on Doctor South?
“Shit! Shit! Shit!” Derek muttered angrily, stamping his feet on the ground.
One day has passed since Ella was kidnapped-still no news. Valen had sent out news to various clans concerning his mate’s disappearance. From the way everything is going, a war might spring out soon. Valen was hardly at the manor, he had been following one lead and another but still nothing. It was just as if Ella varnished into thin air.
If this was a means to break Valen, then it’s working perfectly, the Council’s are murmuring but Valen doesn’t even care. He blames himself for her disappearance.
Derek wasn’t any better, he feels useless in this part of the world where he’s not the one in power. He was alone, faraway from his pack and his people except soon, Alpha Kael would be joining him.
Speaking of Alpha Kael. Derek’s phone beeped and he stared at the simple message that had just popped up.
Just arrived, let’s meet up.
Without hesitation, Derek grabbed his coat and strode off to the address Kael had sent.
Few minutes later, Derek was face to face with the hotel address Kael had sent. He knocked at the room door number of the hotel Alpha Kael sent to him. He could hear some movement in the room before the door was opened.
“Come in, I was actually trying to put some stuff together” Alpha Kael said, turning back into the room as soon as the door was opened.
“Need a drink? You can help yourself” Kael added pointing to the bottle of wine and glasses sitting on the table”
Derek sat down and poured himself a drink, his sharp eyes watching Kael move around the room trying to put one or two together. He had changed his hairstyle, he no longer looked like the rugged rogue who first came to his pack seeking refuge.
Kael suddenly stopped moving around and poured himself a drink as he sat down.
“Sorry about the disorganized nature of my room, won’t be here for long. I need to catch Alpha Kevin now the trail is still hot, but since you were here, I figured I should stop by.”
“So how have you been?” Kael asked, looking at Derek properly for the first time since he opened the door for him.
Derek heaved a heavy sigh. “I’m good”
“You look worse than the last time I saw you, Derek,” Kael observed, eyes narrowing.
Derek ran his fingers through his hair. “Let’s say a lot has been happening recently”
“At least one of us is looking better,” Derek said, raising his glass at Kael.
Kael chuckled. “Thank you”
“Any suspect in mind?” Alpha Kael asked, breaking the silence.
“There have been no leads since yesterday,” Derek admitted. “But when I received your message, I considered Alpha Kevin” Derek said, his jaw clenched and his hands balled into fists.
“You think he might want to use her to get back at you?” Kael asked, his eyes gleaming with understanding.
“I don’t know Kael,” Derek answered, his voice tight with frustration.” “Or maybe he’s trying to get back at Doctor South” Kael nodded, “That makes sense too”
Silence again.
“If Alpha Kelvin is responsible, then we are close to finding her” Kael said, his tone reassuring.
He had been on the trail of Alpha Kevin since when he escaped. He had hoped to also find his little sister during the course of his search.
He had covered almost all werewolf packs in the east, north and south. That’s basically one of the reasons he had also stopped by Devils City.
Who knows?
He might just find her here.
