Aww Seven Exes Begged Cute Blocked novel Chapter 8

**A Promise Written on the Rusted Edge of Time by Dael Rowan Sire**
**Chapter 8**

That nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach was, unfortunately, spot on.

The whole “Leech” saga? It all began with Madison.

I can pinpoint the moment with eerie precision—Thursday evening, to be exact. I had made my way to Dylan’s dorm, hoping to see if he wanted to hit the library with me over the weekend for some much-needed study time.

As I waited downstairs, my eyes wandered around, scanning the familiar surroundings when I caught snippets of Madison’s voice floating over from beneath the sprawling oak tree. She was chatting with a group of girls, her tone dripping with insincerity.

“Poor Ivy,” she lamented, her voice sweetened to an almost sickening degree. “It’s genuinely tragic.”

“What do you mean by that?” one of the girls asked, curiosity piqued.

“You really don’t know? She’s been relying on Dylan’s family since we were little kids,” Madison replied, her voice low as if sharing a scandalous secret.

With a theatrical sigh, she continued, “Her parents died, her grandma’s gone. If Dylan wasn’t such a nice guy…”

“Wait, how does she even afford school then?”

“The Carters cover everything,” Madison whispered, her eyes gleaming with delight at the juicy gossip she was spilling. “Dylan told me himself. They’ve been supporting her for years.”

In that moment, my heart plummeted.

Dylan shared that with her?

How could he betray my trust like that?

“He said Ivy’s like a leech that just won’t let go,” Madison continued, clearly relishing the drama she was creating.

“But he’s too nice to cut her off completely.”

“After supporting someone for so long, you get attached, right?”

“Kind of like keeping a stray dog,” another girl chimed in, laughter bubbling around them.

It felt as if a truck had collided with me, leaving me breathless and reeling.

My legs turned to jelly, and I instinctively reached for the wall to steady myself.

Dylan actually referred to me as that?

Chapter 8

He really labeled me a leech?

Something he felt he couldn’t shake off?

A freaking dog?

The other girls were eating it up, their laughter ringing sharp and cruel in my ears.

“No wonder she follows him everywhere. It all makes sense now.”

“Leech is spot on for her.”
