From that day on, other than sleeping or using the restroom, Madison barely left Sam's side. Even when they weren't together, she made sure someone was with her or that she stayed within range of a surveillance camera.
But despite all her caution, disaster still struck on the eve of Project ET's proposal submission.
"Mr. Goodwin, bad news! Our proposal for Project ET has been leaked online!" Benjamin burst into the CEO's office, his face grim.
Madison looked up from her computer, startled. "What?"
Sam's expression darkened as he looked over. "What happened?"
"The PR department just informed us. Someone posted sections of our project proposal online. The board's already aware, and they're on their way here." Benjamin relayed everything he knew.
Before Benjamin even finished speaking, Sam's phone started ringing. The screen flashed with William's caller ID.
The moment he answered, William's furious voice exploded through the line. "Sam Goodwin! I told you that the Quinn woman would bring trouble, but you never listen! Now look what's happened!"
Madison caught bits and pieces of the shouting, and the color drained from her face. Her fingers clenched tightly against her knees as she looked toward Sam, trying to stay composed.
Sam didn't waste time arguing. His voice stayed icy. "I'll handle it."
He ended the call before William could say another word.

At the Goodwin residence, William slammed his cane against the floor. "That insolent brat! He thinks he can do whatever he wants now. Let's see how he cleans up this mess then!"
His eyes narrowed dangerously as he turned to Felix. "Call the others. Tell them not to hold back just because of me. Deal with this however they see fit!"
Felix nodded and hurried off to inform the other board members.
