As Jason and Yelena continued to bicker, William finally lost his patience.
"Enough!" he thundered.
His sharp, piercing gaze locked on Yelena. "Since Jason doesn't want to join the company, don't force him. The trust fund in his name will keep him comfortable for the rest of his life."
To others, those words might have sounded like William was indulging Jason. But to Yelena, they held a different meaning—William was clearly warning her not to overstep.
Her fingers tightened around her fork before she forced herself to concede.
Satisfied that she had backed down, William nodded. He then turned his gaze toward Sam, his expression darkening.
The thought of Sam bringing Madison into the company made his blood boil.
"Sam, you've let that woman cloud your judgment! Don't forget—I might've named you my heir, but if you keep making foolish decisions, I can strip that title away just as easily!" he warned.
Sam didn't flinch at William's threats, but Madison couldn't bear it any longer.
His unwavering defense of her had already moved her deeply. She couldn't keep hiding behind him forever, nor did she want William to trouble him because of her.
Madison set down her fork. She wiped her mouth, straightened her back, and faced William squarely. "Mr. Goodwin Senior, what I did in the past was foolish. I know it's too late to say this, but I still want to apologize properly."
Madison stood and said, "I'm sorry."
Everyone fell silent at the scene. Clearly, no one had expected her to apologize.
