Betrayed and Dumped: She Rose Stronger Than Ever novel Chapter 67

Stephen’s tense expression finally softened. “Alright.”

At NovaStack Cloud, word of Rebecca’s resignation eventually reached Sonja and Lottie. Around lunchtime, Sonja invited Lottie out for a meal.

Sonja hesitated, her voice tinged with guilt. “I only just found out that Ms. Harper resigned. I guess it happened because I came in so suddenly and it upset her. Ms. Harper is really important to the company. Lottie, you’re close with her. Do you think you could talk to her?”

When Lottie first heard Rebecca had quit, she was so shocked she couldn’t even close her mouth. But after the shock wore off, frustration took its place.

Rebecca was being ridiculous. All this just because Sonja took her position? She really needed to get a grip. Did she honestly think she could compete with Sonja? Besides, Lottie had heard Rebecca hadn’t even gone through the proper resignation steps. She lied and said Bruce approved it, but he hadn’t at all.

Typical sales talk, Lottie thought. Lying comes way too easy.

And look at Sonja. The whole thing had nothing to do with her, but she still felt guilty. She was actually worried about Rebecca.

Lottie couldn’t stand it anymore. “Sonja, this isn’t your fault. I guess she just blames everyone else for her own problems.”

Really, it was Rebecca’s own fault for not being able to keep Bruce interested. How could she blame Sonja for being better? If Lottie had to choose, she’d pick Sonja too.

Sonja looked down for a moment, a small smirk flickering across her lips before she quickly hid it. Still, she asked Lottie to try talking to Rebecca again.

Lottie just muttered an agreement, but in her mind, she was done. No way was she reaching out to Rebecca. She wanted to see what Rebecca could do without NovaStack Cloud, without Bruce looking out for her. No one would even want her for an important job.
