Betrayed I Upgraded to His Billionaire Brother novel Chapter 163

Chapter 163

Thinking Eleanor must have forgotten something, I rushed to open it. The door was barely halfway open when a furry blur shot past my legs and started rubbing against me enthusiastically.

I scooped up the wriggling dog, all while glancing outside. No one there. The door across the way was shut tight.

I scratched his head. Did Gavin lock you out?

Woof! Woof!

Scott lavished me with affection for a moment before suddenly remembering his mission. He started gently tugging the hem of my dress, trying to pull me outside.

Where are you trying to take me?I asked, amused and a little exasperated. I grabbed my coat, phone, and purse, and let him lead the way.

Unexpectedly, he wasn’t leading me anywhere new. He was leading me home.

Man and dog stood together in front of Gavin’s door.

Scott looked up at me with his big, dark eyes, then pointedly looked at the doorbell.

He wanted me to ring it.

I looked down at him. Can’t you ring it yourself?

He understood, leaping up with all his might. His paws still fell comically short of the button.

I froze for a second.

Thenhow did he ring my doorbell?

I reached out and pressed the bell. A moment later, Gavin opened the door.

He leaned casually against the doorframe, all cool indifference. His gaze was sharp, his voice even sharper. Forgot the passcode?

You and Iwe’re not as familiar as you and Vera are,I shot back without thinking.

Gavin raised an eyebrow. Then, in one fluid motion, he leaned in, wrapped an arm around my waist, and hauled me inside, kicking the door

shut behind us.

He pinned me against the closed door, his hand splayed firmly on the small of my back, effortlessly lifting me to my toes. His voice was a low,

delicious rumble.

So, you were angry last nightbecause you saw Vera has my passcode?

Being caught out so easily sent a flush of heat to my cheeks. Forced up onto my toes, our bodies pressed close, I dropped my gaze, avoiding his intense stare.

II just meant we aren’t that close.

We lived under the same roof for nine years, and that doesn’t count as close? He leaned in closer, our breath mingling, the air turning thick and heavy. Then tell me, Elara. What does count as close?

At that, my eyes flew up to meet his. We were so close I could feel his warm breath on my face, surrounded by his clean, cedarwood and vetiver.

Chapter 163

I opened my mouth to speak, but the words were stolen as his lips crashed down on mine.

My entire body went rigid. My eyes widened.

I think I even forgot to breathe I just stood there, frozen, staring into the depths of his blue eyes, at his long, thick lashes.

The sound of my own heartbeat roared in my ears.

I couldn’t tell if it was mine or his.

After only a few seconds, he pulled back slightly, the tip of his nose resting against mine. His voice was rough. Thisis close enough, right?

My brain had short circuited. My eyelashes fluttered. Cclose enough

Close enough?A smirk tugged at his lips, the expression of a man completely in control. The next second, his kiss descended on me again, overwhelming and allconsuming.

This kiss was different. It was urgent. Hungry.

Like he’d been holding back for an eternity. Like he’d finally gotten what he wanted.

There was no finesse, no technique. One hand held me firmly in place, the other cupped the back of my head, leaving me no room to retreat.

This feelingit was utterly foreign. I felt like prey, completely and utterly mastered by him.

My breathing grew ragged. My entire body was turning to liquid warmth under his assault.

Dingdong!

The doorbell screamed right beside us.

I could faintly hear Zane and the others talking outside.

They were here for the housewarming. And I was here, in Gavin’s arms, in his house!

A jolt went through me. My already boneless legs almost gave way. Thankfully, the arm around my waist was an unshakable iron band.

Gavin acted like he hadn’t heard a thing, completely focused on plundering my mouth. The doorbell kept ringing. I pushed weakly against his chest, creating just enough space to gasp for air. There’ssomeone

His dark eyes were clouded with pure desire. He squeezed my waist, his hand sliding slowly upward as he captured my lips again. Ignore

them.

His voice was wrecked, husky, and unbearably sexy.

Getting no answer, the people outside were losing patience. The doorbell changed to pounding fists. I could hear confused voices.

What’s going on? Did Gavin forget we were coming today?
