Betrayed I Upgraded to His Billionaire Brother novel Chapter 201

**Chapter 201**

The atmosphere in the main house buzzed with the presence of the staff, and even the ever-watchful butler lingered nearby. I felt the weight of Gavin’s piercing gaze upon me, and the intensity of it made me want to shrink away. Taking a steadying breath, I mustered the courage to say, “I’m waiting for Zane.”

Gavin’s response was almost dismissive, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. “Wait for him if you want,” he said, his tone dripping with mockery. “But don’t forget what’s in the agreement.”

A rush of anger surged through me, nearly clouding my vision.

When I was sure that none of the servants were paying attention, I shot him a look that could have burned a hole through steel.

His strikingly handsome face remained an impassive mask, but the glint of amusement in his sapphire-blue eyes betrayed him.

Despite my irritation, I had to admit that he was absurdly attractive.

Gavin and Ethan were undoubtedly the two most captivating men I had ever encountered.

They could easily rival any Hollywood heartthrob, leaving them in the dust.

As if he could sense my mounting frustration, Gavin pressed his lips together, slid one hand into his coat pocket, and ambled casually toward the staircase.

But just as he reached the foot of the stairs, he turned back, adopting that all-too-official tone of his. “By the way, come upstairs. I have something for you.”

A sinking feeling settled in my stomach. I knew that once he issued that invitation, there was no room for dissent. To argue would only raise eyebrows and draw unwanted attention, so I stood up, forcing my legs to move as I followed him upstairs.

Even after all these years since he had moved out, no one had dared to disturb his old room. Even here, in Marguerite’s estate, they had kept a room perpetually reserved for him, a silent tribute to his presence.

Gavin led me directly into the room, not bothering to conceal anything.

“What is it?” I asked, my curiosity piqued despite my annoyance.

“Why are you waiting for Zane?”

As soon as the door clicked shut, he pressed me against it, and our voices collided in an almost synchronized response.

Our eyes locked, a silent battle of wills.

When he fell silent, I couldn’t help but answer, my annoyance bubbling to the surface. “You’ll have to ask your grandmother about that.”

The truth was a tangled web I couldn’t unravel for him.

Not that the old woman would ever divulge the truth either.

So, it seemed explaining things to Gavin would fall squarely on her shoulders.

With the thought that Zane could arrive at any moment, I pressed him further, “What did you want to give me?”

Just then, a commotion erupted from downstairs.

It sounded like Zane had finally arrived.

Gavin’s blue eyes scrutinized my anxious expression, and a smirk danced across his lips. “When he kept things from you, he never looked this guilty.”

That “he” was, of course, Zane.

I let out a silent sigh, knowing it wasn’t the same at all.
