Dylan couldn't help but mutter, "They're so damn spoiled."
Isabel didn't comment. Looking back, she realized she had spoiled both of them, the big one and the little one.
Adrian's icy gaze swept over them. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Stop running to my grandmother with every little thing. And regardless of anything else, Oliver is your son. You have a responsibility."
Isabel frowned. Just as she was about to say something, his phone rang.
"Hello." His cold demeanor vanished the moment he answered.
The room was quiet enough for Isabel to hear Selena's gentle voice. "Adrian, what's taking so long to get food? Did something happen? Oliver just came running back here."
"I'll be right back."
Adrian hung up. When he looked at Isabel again, the cold mask was back in place.
"Tonight, I want to see you at Halcyon Hills Residence."
Without waiting for her reply, he strode out of the room, clearly in a hurry.
So, he hadn't come to see her out of obligation to his grandmother after all. He was on his way to see Selena and had just stopped by. Both father and son were the same. Isabel shook her head with a self-mocking smile. After all this time, she still hadn't learned her place. She would have to be more careful in the future.
"Eat up!" Dylan said, pushing the meat from his own bowl into hers. "Don't waste your energy on people who are deaf and blind."
"Okay." Isabel took a large bite, trying to swallow the deep ache in her heart.

When Adrian entered Selena's room, his assistant followed, placing containers of food on the table. Selena had been comforting Oliver for a while. Seeing Adrian, she asked, "What happened? You don't look too happy either. Are you and your son emotionally in sync?" She smiled. "It's the first time I've seen it. It's quite amazing."
