If Adrian could be threatened, he wouldn't be Adrian.
He glanced down at the hem of his jacket. "You've wrinkled it. You're responsible for ironing it flat."
Isabel quickly let go. Before she could say anything else, she was forcibly pushed back into the car.
The man instructed the driver, "To the kindergarten. I have something to attend to."
What could he possibly have to do? He was obviously going to see Selena.
"Adrian!" Isabel yelled, but before she could open the door to get out, the driver had already started the car.
"Thomas, stop the car."
The driver gave a sheepish smile. "Mrs. Blackwell, please don't make my job difficult..."
Isabel had no choice but to swallow her frustration for now.
Oliver, still holding a grudge from the morning, didn't speak to Isabel. Instead, he sat with his back to her, sending messages on his smartwatch.
"Auntie Selena, I can't meet you today. Mom is taking me to kindergarten. You can pick me up tonight, and we can go for dinner together."
He couldn't type many words yet.
Voice messages were easier.
He either assumed Isabel couldn't hear, or he simply didn't care if she did.
"Okay, I'll wait for you to come back."
After receiving Selena's reply, Oliver's mood visibly brightened.
He was even in the mood to talk to Isabel. "Mom, you know, if you were as gentle, capable, and educated as Auntie Selena, Dad would like you."
"But you're none of those things."
Isabel didn't even look at him. "Your father and I are getting a divorce. You heard us."
He could like whomever he wanted.
Oliver pursed his lips, sensing her coldness, and his mood soured again.
"You're always throwing tantrums. It's better that you and Dad divorce. I don't want a grumpy mom anyway."
The moment the car stopped, Isabel opened the door and got out.
She walked away without a backward glance.
The driver had no choice but to get out and escort Oliver to the school gate.
