At first, he didn't believe it either, thinking it was just a tactic to get his attention.
But now, it seemed she was serious.
...
Even without Adrian present, the procedure could still move forward.
However, after signing the papers, she was informed of a one-month cooling-off period. Isabel frowned and asked Daniel, "Why is there a cooling-off period?"
Daniel replied, "Mrs. Blackwell, that's not something I can control. It's the regulation."
Isabel had already been waiting for a long time, from winter to summer.
She truly felt this cooling-off period was unnecessary.
"With the Blackwell family's..."
Daniel gathered the documents, his tone strictly professional. "Mrs. Blackwell, these were Mr. Blackwell's instructions. I can only follow them. If you have any dissatisfaction, please discuss it with Mr. Blackwell. I am not authorized to make that decision."
Isabel tried calling Adrian, but his phone was off.
Daniel heard the notification and said, "He's likely on the plane already."
"As his executive assistant, you were with him during his two years abroad. Why not this time?"
It only just occurred to Isabel. She had been so focused on getting the paperwork done that she hadn't thought about the details.
"I will be joining him later," Daniel replied calmly. "If it weren't for your urgent request, I would indeed have been on the same flight as Mr. Blackwell."
Isabel still felt something wasn't right. "How long is this business trip? He will be back on the last day of the cooling-off period, won't he?"
Daniel said, "Rest assured, Mrs. Blackwell. Even if Mr. Blackwell is occupied, I will be here to finalize the process."
Finally, Isabel just said, "Don't call me Mrs. Blackwell anymore."
...
When Isabel arrived at the lab, she found out that Selena wasn't there.
She was told Selena had gone on a business trip abroad to attend some event.
