“I’m not just living for myself anymore. I’m living for her mother, too.”
...
Isabel had no idea what happened after she left.
After washing the dishes, she returned to old Mrs. Blackwell’s side.
“I just called old Mr. Reed,” she said softly. “It’s not convenient for him to come here, but I can go to him. I’ll get a prescription, and we can prepare a special remedy for you. I’ve also learned some new techniques that, combined with my own research, I’m sure will help you get better.”
Old Mrs. Blackwell nodded. “Thank you for the trouble.”
Then she added, “I’m going to sleep now.”
“Of course.”

Isabel drove to Westwood that very night, carrying old Mrs. Blackwell’s medical records.
After reviewing them, old Mr. Reed said, “It’s too late. I wouldn’t recommend any more medication. If the dosage is too strong, it could actually accelerate her decline.”
“What about stimulating her organ function?” Isabel asked desperately.
Old Mr. Reed stroked his beard. “If you had started your research earlier, your Y-2 formula might have been useful. But now... she doesn’t have that kind of time. Even trying to boost organ activity to slow the decay is a lost cause.”
Isabel’s eyes instantly turned red.
A storm of emotions raged inside her.
Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t find any words to say.
Seeing her distress, old Mr. Reed sighed. “You studied with me for a while, so you know the basics of massage. I’ll teach you a few more advanced techniques. Go back and try them.”
Isabel stayed there for a week.
She video-called every day to check on old Mrs. Blackwell’s condition.
“I’m so sorry, Grandma. I said I’d stay with you. Just wait a little longer, I’m coming back right now.”
She had completely forgotten about finalizing the divorce.
It wasn’t until she returned to the Blackwell family estate and saw Adrian that she remembered.
She had no idea when he had gotten back.
