Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 130

Old Mrs. Blackwell had just woken up and was heading to the bathroom when she saw Isabel’s hand. “What happened?”

Isabel set down the tray of food. “It’s nothing. I’ll put some cream on it, and it’ll be fine.”

She always kept burn ointment in her bag.

She started carrying it for Oliver, in case he got hurt, and now she kept it for potential lab accidents.

Plus, her right hand had been severely injured before, so she was extra careful with it.

“Who was giving you trouble this time?” Old Mrs. Blackwell knew the family all too well.

They had never treated Isabel with any kindness.

Adrian was a late-in-life baby, born after Mrs. Blackwell had an IUD put in, thinking she was done with children. His unexpected arrival had made him the family favorite.

So when he was unhappy about his marriage to Isabel, the entire family, except for his grandmother, sided with him.

But now, she wouldn’t be able to protect Isabel for much longer.

“Is the divorce proceeding smoothly?”

Isabel didn’t answer, instead focusing on feeding old Mrs. Blackwell.

“I’ve looked into this Y-2 drug. It seems to be very good for your condition. I’m sure you’ll be fine.”

Seeing that she was avoiding the topic, old Mrs. Blackwell didn’t press it. “Others may not know, but your grandmother does. If you need help, you just have to ask.”

Isabel shook her head. “I never really cared that much about Y-2. If she could develop it and save you, I wouldn’t mind at all. I’m just afraid she’s using you as a test subject. That’s why I need to run a full set of tests on you. In the meantime, I’ll speed up my own research and upgrade Y-2 as quickly as possible. Then there will be no risks.”

Old Mrs. Blackwell couldn’t eat anymore and raised a hand to stop her.

Once Isabel put the bowl down, her grandmother took her hand.

“Isabel, the truth is, even without the marriage, we had ways to get you to agree to your mother’s heart transplant. So, the reason I had you marry Adrian wasn’t just about the heart.”

“I know.”

Old Mrs. Blackwell tucked a stray strand of hair behind Isabel’s ear. “Do you resent me for making you have a child?”

It had almost killed her and cost her the ability to have more children.

Isabel shook her head. “I understand why you did it. Besides, people change as they grow. When I was in love, I didn’t think about those things. My entire world revolved around him. Now that the love is gone, all those other things have come to the surface, but with time, I’ve found I can’t be bothered to hold a grudge.”

Old Mrs. Blackwell’s stamina had clearly waned.

After talking for a short while, she fell asleep.

Isabel went to get some rest as well.
