Isabel said nothing. She simply grabbed his wrist, pressed a pressure point, and freed her left hand. Then she strode quickly toward the elevator.

Adrian followed her. “You’re the one who caused this mess online by insisting on fighting with her.”

He grabbed her left hand again. “Some things can’t be yours just by imitating them. Even if she hadn’t released the drug, with your situation, how many people do you think would have believed you?”

Isabel knew he was right. If the research had been published under her name, it certainly wouldn’t have garnered the same massive attention as it did with Selena. After all, Selena’s academic credentials were verifiable, and she did have some skill. Isabel, on the other hand, had been out of the professional world for too long. For the past six years, the only thing she had mastered was running a household.

Besides, with Y-1 being published under Dylan’s name, it had absolutely no connection to her. The fact that she was dismissed from the lab did nothing to prove her case; in fact, it only served as another point of ridicule. No one in their right mind would believe that someone with such talent would willingly confine themselves to their home, serving only their husband and child.

Moreover, with Adrian’s family background, there was no need for her to do any of those things. There were plenty of people who could have done it for her. She could have continued to ignore everything and immerse herself in the lab. But she had given it up because she believed that once you were married, you became a family, and you couldn’t just delegate the care of your husband and child to others.

She had no emotional connection with Adrian to begin with, and he had been forced into the marriage. If she had remained buried in her lab, she feared her husband and child would have grown even more distant. But looking back now, her thinking was utterly laughable. She had given so much, and they had become distant anyway.

Just as Isabel was about to say something, Selena held up her phone and said in a gentle voice, “How have you been lately? I’ve been so busy here, I haven’t had a chance to come back and see you. I promise, as soon as I’m done, I’ll make it up to you.”
