She rolled her eyes. “Do you really think Velaris Corporation, a prestigious family enterprise that has built an unshakable empire, would be run by an idiot?”
Her relationship with Adrian was shattered beyond repair. She wouldn’t even be here if she wasn’t trying to get him to sign the divorce papers. If Adrian hadn’t brought Selena into the picture, she might have helped him. But he was too busy doting on his childhood friend to care about the deal. If that was the case, why should she?
She would be thrilled if Adrian went bankrupt!
“Mr. Blackwell.”
A tall, blond-haired man approached their table. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet your wife.”
He extended his hand toward Selena. “Mrs. Blackwell, a pleasure.”
Isabel let out a loud, mocking laugh, which caught the man’s attention. “Excuse me, beautiful lady, did I say something wrong?”
Isabel was fed up. She decided to set the record straight. “I’m sorry, Mr. Richard, but you’ve made a mistake. I am Mrs. Blackwell.”
Richard was stunned. “Oh, no.”
He turned to Adrian. “Mr. Blackwell, who exactly is your wife?”
When he dined with his own wife, if others were present, they always sat side by side. So he had naturally assumed the woman sitting next to Adrian was Mrs. Blackwell. Besides, she was dressed so elegantly and was laughing and talking with Adrian, who had even cut her steak for her. Was there some custom here he wasn't aware of?
He looked back at Isabel. She had come abroad in a hurry and hadn’t packed much. Although Adrian had provided clothes, she had assumed the gowns were for a formal meeting with Richard. So she was still wearing the simple jeans and white shirt she had worn on the plane. Her hair was casually tied up. She certainly didn’t have the polished air of a Mrs. Blackwell, unlike Selena.
