Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 175

Julian immediately kicked him. “Stop talking nonsense.”

He stubbed out his cigarette in an ashtray. “And who are you calling ‘sis’?”

The blond man replied, “If your plan works out, she’ll be my sister.”

Julian shooed him away, then turned to Isabel. “What did you need?”

Isabel shook her head. “I just came for a glass of water.”

Julian poured her a glass of warm water and told her about the man. “He’s from the Ashford family. His name is Miles Ashford.”

Isabel choked on her water. “That’s so melodramatic.”

“Foreigners like those kinds of names,” Julian said.

He explained his plan again. “His uncle has been looking for his daughter for a long time and refuses to adopt because he doesn’t accept that she’s dead. So, if you assume his daughter’s identity now, no one will be suspicious.”

Isabel asked, “But you just said his uncle doesn’t believe his daughter is dead. Won’t he be upset if I take his daughter’s place?”

Now that Miles had mentioned it, Julian found himself thinking that Isabel did bear a slight resemblance to Victor Ashford.

“Your father treats you so poorly. Have you ever considered that he might not be your biological father?”

Isabel shot him a look. “You probably haven’t spent much time in our country. A new wife can turn a father into a stepfather. He treats me badly because he dislikes my mother and loves his mistress and their son. Men are rational like that; their affection is either an extension of their love for someone else or a calculation of maximum benefit.”

Her meaning was clear.

Her father was her biological father, even if she didn’t want him to be.

Julian didn’t press the issue. “You rest up for a few days. I’ll go to the Ashford estate and plant the seed about you.”

Isabel stopped him. “The lab…”

Julian smiled and tousled her hair affectionately. “It’s all been taken care of. Did you think I’d neglect you? My grandfather would kill me.”

Isabel felt a wave of relief.

Julian handed her a new phone. “If you see any news, try not to let it upset you.”
