Isabel was about to say something to the police when she was interrupted by a female voice.
"Why are you lying on the floor? Get up, quickly." Selena rushed over to embrace him.
It was cold in Westbridge, so she had worn a coat on the plane. She'd been in such a hurry to get here that she hadn't had time to take it off.
She took it off now, folding it to place behind Oliver's back.
"If there's anything you want, just tell me. I’ll help you. Be good, stop crying now, or your throat will hurt."
Isabel only saw Selena.
How strange.
Adrian was actually not by Selena's side.
But that was none of her business.
"Auntie Selena, I want my mom, but she won't talk to me, sob."
Selena's eyes darkened for a second.
Oliver had been calling her 'Mommy' for some time now. Even though she always insisted he shouldn't, he persisted.
But now...
She suppressed her feelings and gently wiped his tears, then looked at a police officer. "Excuse me, could I trouble you for a cup of warm water? The child's voice is completely hoarse from crying."
The officer immediately went to get some warm water, at the perfect temperature for drinking.
"Thank you."
Selena took it and helped Oliver drink.
"Don't worry, Oliver. I’ll ask what's going on."
