“I would never mistake my own mother!” Oliver screamed. “You must have all worked together to fake the results!”

Evelyn scoffed. It was obvious Adrian had coached him to say that.

“You wouldn’t mistake your mother? Then why do you call Selena ‘Mom’? Don’t think I don’t know about that. I’ll say this one last time: the person in the other room is not your mother. If you keep this up, we will feed you to the sharks.”

“Waaah!” Oliver burst into loud sobs.

Julian was also getting annoyed, but despite his threat, he had no intention of actually feeding a child to sharks. After all, his grandfather and old Mrs. Blackwell had been friends once. The Blackwells were a lost cause, but old Mrs. Blackwell was a decent person. He couldn’t very well dispose of her only great-grandson.

“Douglas, take him back to the Blackwell estate. And tell old Mrs. Blackwell that if this child ever shows up here again, I will personally feed him to the sharks. The Blackwell family needs to learn to control their own.”

“Yes, sir.” Douglas was a mountain of a man and lifted Oliver as if he were a baby chicken. The boy’s struggles were futile.

Under the circumstances, a commercial flight was out of the question. Evelyn generously offered the use of her family’s private jet.

Julian was exhausted and badly injured, with no energy to respond to her teasing.

“After you eat, I’ll help you back to your room to rest.”

“I have no strength,” Julian said. “You’ll have to feed me.”

Without hesitation, Isabel began to feed him the liquid meal.

“You’re quite the chef,” he commented. “You’ve managed to make something this bland almost palatable.”

“You should talk less. It drains your energy and isn’t good for your recovery.”

After Julian finished eating, Isabel helped him back to his room.

“I’m heading to the lab after I eat. The housekeeper will keep an eye on you. If you need me, just have him call.”

“Get plenty of sleep. It’s the fastest way to heal.”
