Adrian gave her a detached glance and said, "Beautiful."
It was emotionless, artless, and utterly perfunctory.
Selena laughed until tears welled up, but her face twisted into a snarl. "Adrian, I curse you. I curse you to never find happiness in this life."
Adrian left without a second thought.
It seemed he found her curse too childish and uninteresting.
Selena walked to the window, from which she could see the golden tower.
Since he believed in mysticism...
Then her curse would surely stir ripples in his heart.

When Isabel woke up in the morning, Julian asked if she wanted to eat in the room or at the restaurant.
"The restaurant is a buffet, with more variety. Room service is à la carte and much more expensive."
Isabel chose the restaurant.
Even though it was all included in the room rate, she felt she would have a better appetite eating in the restaurant.
Julian accompanied her.
Isabel never expected that Oliver would be there, staying at the same hotel.
"Mommy!"
The moment he saw her, he ran over and hugged her.
Mrs. Blackwell heard him and looked over, her expression instantly souring.
But she didn't say anything, just pulled Oliver back. "You've got the wrong person. This isn't your mother."
"Grandma, it is," Oliver insisted. "I really wouldn't mistake my own mommy."
"You're mistaken," Julian said, wrapping an arm around Isabel's shoulder. "I've told you many times. This is my wife, Isabel Ashford. If you can't understand plain language, I suggest a trip to the hospital to get your head checked."
His attack was indiscriminate. "You must be the boy's grandmother, right? The child might not know any better, but surely an adult should?"
