Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 39

Adrian was hardly an impartial man.

He wasn’t one for discerning right from wrong.

He was only saying this to defend Selena.

If the roles were reversed, his argument would surely be different.

Isabel choked back her tears, her eyes as red as if they were filled with blood. She held her head high, her voice choked with defiance. “I would rather die than apologize. If you hadn't stopped me, I would have given her a few more!”

Adrian's heavy gaze fell upon her face.

It was clear from his stance that she wouldn't be leaving this room until Selena had her revenge.

But she bit her lip, refusing to back down.

Just as Dylan was about to speak, Old Mr. Foster walked over. “Mr. Blackwell, they’re going to be colleagues from now on. It wouldn't do for them to be at odds. Do me a favor. Let this go, and I’ll give my good-for-nothing grandson a couple of punches to settle it.”

This wasn't the first time Dylan had protected Isabel.

Selena hadn't paid it much mind before because she was confident Adrian would never divorce Isabel.

She knew Isabel. As long as she was married, no matter how much someone showed interest in her, she would never cross the line.

But today, she hadn't known that Isabel would also be dining with Old Mr. Foster.

The fact that Dylan had brought Isabel to meet his grandfather meant things were serious.

Adrian didn't love Isabel. It was entirely possible that if Isabel kept pushing, his patience would run out and he'd grant the divorce.

But Adrian was a powerful man. Even if he didn't love his wife, she was still his legal wife. He would never tolerate her getting so close to another man while they were still married.

“I always thought Mr. Foster and Isabel were just friends, perhaps very good ones. I didn't realize they had reached the stage of meeting the parents.”

“But Old Mr. Foster, you might not be aware that Isabel and Adrian are legally married. So, while they are still married, she really can't be discussing marriage with your grandson.”
