Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 65

Evergreen Ridge Estate was a long way from Halcyon Hills Residence.

Isabel finished her breakfast but remained silent, quietly watching the trees blur past the window.

Sensing her lack of enthusiasm, Dylan didn't say anything either.

He only spoke when they arrived at Halcyon Hills Residence. “I’ll wait for you.”

“Okay.”

Isabel walked up to the ornate iron gate and rang the bell.

With a soft click, the gate swung open. As she walked through, the front door of the house opened as well.

She was about to put on a pair of shoe covers when she realized it was Adrian himself who had opened the door.

Since he was at home, he was dressed casually in a grey crewneck sweater and black trousers.

His hair wasn’t styled up; it fell softly over his forehead.

He lacked the sharp, imposing presence he usually carried.

But Isabel didn’t spare him a second glance. “I won’t come in. Just bring the divorce papers out, and I’ll sign them.”

Adrian turned, went back inside, and returned with two copies of the agreement.

Isabel glanced at them. They weren't the two copies she had already signed for old Mrs. Blackwell.

Nor were they the ones she had originally left at Halcyon Hills Residence.

Some changes had been made.

The shares that old Mrs. Blackwell had offered were now coming from him.

He had also added a high-end downtown apartment worth over a hundred million.

Isabel hesitated for a moment, weighing whether to take the shares or cash them out.

Taking the shares meant she might remain entangled with the Blackwell family.

But cash would eventually devalue.

And her lab experiments were incredibly expensive.

In Westbridge, securing investment without running into Adrian was nearly impossible.

In the end, Isabel simply signed her name.

She said nothing.

Placing the pen and the signed agreement on the cabinet next to the door, she turned and left.

Dylan’s car was waiting right outside. She got in, and they sped away.

She didn’t notice.

Adrian stood at the doorway, his dark eyes fixed on the departing car for a long time.
