Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 93

"Get lost," old Mr. Reed said. He had a grandson of his own and was most annoyed by these rascals. Isabel, on the other hand, was pleasant to look at. He was happy no matter how much she ate—though, of course, some of that was affection by extension.

In the end, Dylan managed to mooch for two more days.

He insisted on sleeping on the damp floor at night rather than leaving.

He was finally swept out by old Mr. Reed with a large broom.

But he hadn't expected that as soon as he got rid of one freeloader, another would arrive.

"What are you doing here?"

Julian Reed put down the food he'd brought, unfazed by his grandfather's temper.

"My old man sent me to check on *his* old man. I don't particularly want to be on the receiving end of your glares, but he'll just give me grief if I don't. Why don't you come back with me and teach him a lesson?"

Old Mr. Reed had never married.

Julian's father was someone he had picked up off the street.

He was a handful, too.

He often wondered why he hadn't picked up a cute little daughter instead.

But then again, if he had, he probably wouldn't have met the qualifications to raise her.

Julian's father was a wild child, and no amount of discipline could tame him.

But he was a capable kid.

Later, when his son grew up, got married, and had children, he couldn't be bothered with them anymore and came here to find Isabel's grandmother.

But her heart was still with her late husband; there was no room for another man.

He didn't mind. At their age, quiet companionship was enough.

The day she passed, he felt there was no point in staying.

But she had told him that Isabel would need someone to lean on.

So he stayed, waiting here for when Isabel needed him.

It seemed she had been quite farsighted.

Thinking of the past and looking at his grandson now, he found him even more displeasing.
