Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 123

"What is it?" Giselle grumbled after reluctantly picking up Tony's call.

"Come back to the Holt residence now. I have something important to ask you," he replied.

"I'm not coming! I'm busy."

Without saying another word, she hung up.

Ever since a month ago, she'd decided never to set foot in the Holt household again. The last thing she wanted was to get in a fight with the Holts again, and she just wanted to live her quiet, little life in peace.

After hanging up, she turned off her phone so as not to let them disturb her, then turned back to sleep. She hadn't slept so soundly in a long time, and she didn't wake up until noon when her dog started barking furiously.

Still groggy, she got up and patted the dog's head. Only then did she hear someone rapping at her door with a rather rough urgency.

Assuming it was some maintenance worker, she changed out of her pajamas and threw on some casual clothes. She padded toward the door, still rubbing her eyes as she opened the door without much thought.

She was stunned.

Standing outside was a whole group of people—Tony, Renee, and Anne, along with Dorothea and Ethan.

"What are you all doing here?" Giselle asked, bewildered.

They were all elites who lived in sprawling villas. What on earth had brought them to her cramped little apartment?

Tony shot Giselle a cold glare, then took it upon himself to usher Dorothea inside. The others followed without the slightest courtesy, completely ignoring the fact that Giselle was the owner of this home.

"Let's just get straight to the point," Dorothea said curtly, her tone dripping with impatience.

She swerved toward Giselle and began barking orders. "Go to the police station right now and drop the charges! What nonsense is this? Rape? Just say how much money you want. Stop causing trouble and tarnishing our family's reputation!"

"Listen—false accusations are also a crime, and you'll be thrown in jail for them. Go to the police station now and withdraw your complaint right away!"

"Giselle, enough is enough!" Tony barked, visibly frustrated. "Even Mrs. Kane Senior has come here in person. If you and Mr. Donovan have some personal grudge, settle it in private. Don't drag it to the police!"

Yet, Giselle still didn't back down in the face of their reprimands and the crushing pressure of their social status.

"Stop wasting your time on me," she said, a sneer tugging at her lips. "It's just a rape charge. Surely with the Kane family's influence, you can make it go away. Pull some strings for him!"

"Dr. Holt, I can't believe you've raised such a daughter!" Dorothea turned and glared at Tony.

Sighing, Tony tried to change the subject. "By rights, the police shouldn't have detained Don so hastily. Why don't we go down to the station and ask first?"

"No need," Ethan interrupted grimly. "The thing is, Don himself has already admitted to the crime."
