Hearing this, the others froze.
Dorothea, in particular, felt utterly humiliated.
"What the hell is Don playing at?" she muttered. "Has he lost his mind? He keeps getting involved with this woman. This is absolutely ridiculous!"
She shot Giselle a scathing glare, scanning her from head to toe. Then her gaze swept past the slightly messy living room.
Thinking of the havoc Giselle had wreaked on her family over the past month or two—and seeing her still brazenly act as if she were entirely innocent—Dorothea burned with the urge to skin her alive.
Anne, too, was at a loss when she heard that Donovan had admitted to the rape charge himself. She didn't even know where to start with her insults now.
Giselle's sneer was unwavering.
"Heard that? He admitted it himself. The police are just doing their job, upholding my rights as the victim. Like I said, if you want to save him, get him a lawyer. Put together a whole legal team if you want.
"As for me, I'll fight for my rights to the end. Get out of my home now, or I'll call the police again—for breaking into my place and causing a disturbance."
Her fearless and arrogant attitude sent a jolt of panic through everyone. They glared at her with contempt, but for the moment, none of them could do anything about her.
Renee didn't want to step in and discipline Giselle right now, so she gave Tony a nudge and hissed, "Get a hold of your brat."
After all, out of everyone here, only Tony had the right to discipline her.
But Dorothea had already had enough. She looked as if someone had punched the living daylights out of her as she spat out, "I've never seen such an uncivilized, morally corrupt, and shameless woman! You were well educated, weren't you?
"But I bet you've forgotten all those things you've learned. Otherwise, how could you be so shameless?"
"All I can say is, you're the perfect candidate for his wife. Only someone like you can stomach it."
"Shut up, you bitch!"
Burning with humiliation and rage, Anne was about to launch into another shouting match when Tony stopped her.
"Go outside first!" he barked. "Don't make a scene here."
Giselle's words struck a nerve, and she couldn't bear to stay any longer. She stormed out, slamming the door behind her.
"You should leave, too. What are you still hanging around for?" Giselle turned to Tony, her expression tight. "Don't you dare try to talk to me about Donovan. I won't answer a word of it."
