Giselle didn't think much of it. "Sure. We can keep in touch."
"We have to add each other's numbers, right?" Gideon asked, leaning toward her.
Since they had to stay in contact about the car repair cost later, and the lawsuit might also involve negotiations between them, she immediately took out her phone and let him add her number.
"What's your name?" he asked.
"Giselle Holt."
"You know, Giselle means 'hostage'. Fitting, since you're always holding people hostage with that awful temper of yours."
She rolled her eyes and raised her voice. "It was inspired by a ballet, you ignorant prick!"
Honestly, she bet he didn't even graduate from high school. How could he not have heard of that legendary ballet?
The man chuckled and saved her number in his phone.
"I'm Gideon Grayson," he said, introducing himself. "Remember that!"
"Gideon… fitting name, huh? Always cutting people down just to see how they fall," she shot back.
Gideon was at a loss for words. Clearing his throat, he seized the opportunity and replied sleazily, "Yeah, Ms. Holt. You guessed the meaning behind my name in mere seconds. You're smart. Looks like we're meant to be, don't you think?"
While Giselle admitted that he was hot, his snarkiness was getting on her nerves. She didn't want to say another word.
The next day, she received a call from Westbrook Station. They said she needed to come in to give a statement regarding her previous rape accusation against Donovan.
She hadn't been following the progress of the case, and visiting the police station constantly was a real hassle.
But given how things had already blown up to this point, she couldn't just drop it halfway.
What Giselle didn't expect was that when she arrived at the station, the officer in charge told her that due to insufficient evidence, the case would not be filed. And the suspect, Donovan, had already been released without charge.
"Isn't that surveillance footage the most solid piece of evidence I have?" she asked, clearly dissatisfied.
"Here's the thing," the officer said. "Mr. Kane submitted some key evidence showing that the two of you were in a sexual relationship, so the charge of rape doesn't hold."
