Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 159

After staring at each other for a while, Giselle snorted and admitted, "Relax. I didn't do anything. I didn't add any banned substances.

"Your lab's security is too tight for me to get in. I was only bluffing to scare you. I didn't think you'd fall for it."

Donovan's eyes burned into hers. "Cut the crap! I've already given you what you wanted. You should be happy now. Now, start talking and tell me everything!"

"What am I supposed to say? I didn't do anything! Would you rather I make something up for you?" Having achieved her goal, she now seemed completely at ease.

Giselle was well aware of how suspicious he was by nature and how he valued the quality of his company's medicines more than his own life. Even the slightest sign of trouble would set him off.

Watching her flip-flop between claiming she did and didn't do it, with that fearless demeanor, Donovan no longer had time to probe any further. To be on the safe side, he immediately convened an emergency meeting with the relevant department heads and decided to remove and discard the batches of cold medicine that had gone into production that day, even if it meant incurring massive losses.

While Donovan was busy handling the aftermath, Giselle took her dog home.

The vaccine worked. Her dog was back to normal that very night. It finished an entire plate of beef, barked loudly, and happily rolled around in its bed. It had escaped death by a hair's breadth.

The heaviest weight on her chest was gone now that her dog had recovered. That night, she slept soundly without a care in the world.

After hearing that, Giselle froze for a few seconds. She made no excuses; she simply called Vivienne to take care of some things at home and followed the officers into the police car.

Giselle felt completely numb inside, as she had lost track of how many times she'd been to the police station.

Giselle spent two to three hours giving her statement. Even though she insisted that it was all a misunderstanding and that she had only lied to force Donovan to hand over the vaccine to treat her dog, it was all in vain.

The officers told her the surveillance footage clearly showed her entering the lab. Whether or not she had actually tampered with anything didn't matter, as she had caused Kane Group a significant financial loss.
