Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 295

"Stop rubbing salt into my wounds," Gideon groaned.

The mere thought of the child was giving him a horrible headache. He wasn't happy about becoming a father at all. He just felt incredibly angry and regretful.

"Please forgive me, Giselle. Just give me another chance," he begged.

With tears in his eyes, he continued in a raspy voice, "I never expected this to happen. I didn't want this child, but I'm planning to come up with a custody arrangement with Cecilia. She can have full custody of the child. Unfortunately, I can only support her financially. I can't—"

"Stop," Giselle cut him off in an exasperated manner.

She averted her gaze and said, "I don't want you to run from your responsibilities because of me. Ms. York made herself perfectly clear. She wants to get back together with you and give your son a complete family. So… I think we should end things here."

"Don't listen to her!" Gideon said firmly. "Please rest assured that I will not be getting back together with her no matter what."

He added, "Initially, I wasn't even planning on getting married because I didn't want to be tied down by a relationship. But then, I met you. I gave up on everything I used to stand by because of you. You're the only person I'd ever marry in this life!"

Giselle was unfazed.

"I know how much I mean to you. I was already planning to marry you, but what happened today was just too much of a shock for me. You don't need to come up with any more solutions or ask me to give you some time to sort things out.

"The child exists. Now that this has already happened, there's nothing we can do about it. You should go. Let's just call off our marriage."

Upon hearing this, Gideon's heart sank.

He went on, "My love for you—and all the pain I've endured while you were missing—have all become a joke. I should've known that you were still hung up on Donovan! Our so-called marriage was nothing but a sham. You've just been using me to put on an act!"

His hurtful comments devastated her. She wanted to explain, but once she realized that everything was set in stone, she ultimately decided not to say anything.

"You're free to think however you like," Giselle said, sounding slightly hurt. "Meeting you has made me genuinely happy, and I've never regretted getting to know you. Thank you for—"

"Don't fucking thank me!" Gideon shouted as he nearly broke down. "Hearing you say thank you to me is the biggest insult I could ever receive!"

Before Giselle could say anything, he stormed out of her house in a frustrated and bitter manner and slammed the door behind him.
