Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 342

Giselle's nonchalance made Grace tremble with rage.

She was also a daughter-in-law of the Kane family, and there was no way she'd accept Giselle as her sister-in-law. She'd always despised Giselle, who was 20 years younger than her and had a chaotic past.

To Grace, this was nothing short of humiliation.

Seething, she swerved toward Donovan and snapped, "Don, don't you dare forget that our family runs a pharmaceutical empire. Reputation and family honor mean everything!

"By marrying this tramp, you're dragging the company through the mud. You may not care about me or Ethan, but Dorothea is nearly 80 and in poor health. If she falls sick because of your impulsive choices, can you live with that?"

Visibly impatient, Donovan ignored her and turned aside. "I married an ordinary woman, not a criminal. You don't need to overreact. Nothing will happen."

"An ordinary woman?" Grace parroted, looking incredulous. "She's been sold to Sithora and worked as a prostitute—you call that ordinary? Why out of all the women in this world did you have to pick a disgraced one like her? You—"

"Mrs. Kane." Giselle finally cut her off with a sneer. "Your values seem a little twisted, don't they? If I'm not mistaken, you often represent the family at charity events, preaching about supporting women and rattling off noble platitudes in front of the cameras…

"But now that I've been kidnapped and trafficked abroad, it's treated as a crime I committed? I was the victim, yet you call me a disgraced woman. By your logic, every trafficked or abused woman should just kill herself because she doesn't deserve to live, let alone marry.

"Is that what the Kane family calls honor?"

Giselle's sharp retort left Grace speechless, her expression pale.

"Don't twist my words," she snarled, glaring at Giselle. "You know exactly what kind of woman you are! If you dare go around flaunting yourself as part of our family and tarnish our reputation, I won't let it slide!"

"Will you knock it off already?" Donovan's patience finally snapped. His expression darkened as he growled, "How dare you bully my wife when I'm right here? Are you ignoring me? If she does anything wrong, that's for me to deal with—not you.

Dorothea, who had been quiet until now, finally lost her temper.

Her voice trembled with fury as she barked, "Are you cutting ties with me as well? You're used to bossing people around at the company, so you're completely disregarding us now?

"I'm not even dead yet, and you're already this heartless. Once I'm gone, do you plan to let this bitch stir even more trouble?"

Faced with his aging mother, Donovan forced himself to rein in his emotions.

"My marriage should've been a happy occasion," he said calmly. "If you insist on treating it like a funeral, that's on you. Either accept it and life goes on normally, or continue to be in denial and torment yourselves. But don't drag me into this."

Shaking with rage, Dorothea slapped Donovan hard across the face.
