"Yes, we need to find him a nice girl and arrange the marriage soon. Otherwise, he might end up like his uncle, chasing after the wrong women and insisting on marrying them. That would be a disaster for the family."
Hearing Grace's pointed remark, Donovan ignored her and took a long sip from his glass.
"Shall we go?" Giselle said quietly to Donovan, feeling a tightness in her chest. "I'm full and a little tired. I want to go back and get some rest."
Since Donovan was also feeling drained, he didn't want to stay and listen to the family's nagging or face their judgmental looks.
Just as he was about to leave, Dorothea interrupted, "Are you leaving already?"
She still felt a little reluctant and wanted to insist that he stay the night. However, with Giselle here and Zachary back, there was no need to make the situation more awkward.
Giselle forced a smile and said, "Don't worry, Mrs. Kane. I'll take good care of your son. You can come and check on us anytime."
Dorothea rolled her eyes. "Your real job is to have a baby! Don't rush around or climb all over the place. If you accidentally harm my grandchild, I won't forgive you."
Though stern on the surface, Dorothea's words also signaled her acceptance of Giselle as part of the family.
Giselle understood that and smiled. "I know."
Even though she had no romantic feelings for Zachary and sincerely wanted him to be happy with someone he cared for, the thought of it being Anne filled her with a flash of rage.
She glanced at Donovan, thinking about telling him her suspicions, but considering his busy schedule and how trivial this would seem compared to his work, she decided it wasn't worth troubling him. She stayed silent.
By the time they got home, it was already 10:00 pm. Giselle intended to take a shower first.
But as soon as she stepped toward the bathroom, Donovan grabbed her waist. Without any foreplay, he lifted her skirt.
