"She's all talk and no action. She's good at arguing though. I can't believe she went up against the CEO. Who does she think she is?" another executive spat.

Giselle was silent. They were mocking her and looking at her with contempt. But no matter how arrogant she was, there was no way she could order these people around anymore. Ultimately, she returned to her office feeling defeated.

When she opened the door to her office, she saw Donovan sitting in the chair at her desk. The latter was smoking a cigarette as if nothing had happened.

She slammed her notebook onto the table and barked angrily, "What are you doing here? Get out!"

Despite how furious she was, Donovan remained unfazed. He calmly blew out a puff of smoke and glanced at her in an amused manner. There was even a hint of a smile on his face.

When Giselle thought about how Donovan had embarrassed her earlier, she felt incredibly infuriated. She yanked the cigarette out of his hand and aggressively took a drag on it. To her dismay, she ended up choking on the smoke.

"What kind of trashy brand is this?" she complained in between coughs. "It tastes horrible."

She chucked the cigarette butt into the ashtray and snapped, "Get out of here! You assigned me to this position, yet you don't give me a shred of authority! What even is the point of all this?"

Donovan wasn't angry at her at all. Instead, he got to his feet and tried to hug her.

"Go away!" She slapped his hand away and refused to let him get close to her.

However, right after she turned around, he proceeded to pull her into a tight hug from behind.
