"That's enough," Ethan said coolly. "Ms. Moore is technically your family too. Since we're all considered family, let's not make things awkward between us. Stop wasting your breath and just do as I say."
Giselle was somewhat speechless, but there was no way she'd actually do as he said. After all, she was trying to go up against Renee, and this was only the beginning. If she were to give up so easily, the latter would become even more brazen and arrogant.
"Alright, I'll think about it when I head back."
She didn't want to engage in pointless arguments with him. So, after agreeing to his request with an ambiguous smile, she turned to leave.
"Wait," he called after her again. "I actually wanted to talk to you about something else."
"What?"
She felt slightly confused.
He flashed her a cold look. Then, after hesitating for a while, he said, "It's Gideon."
"Oh." Her heart sank. "Did something happen to him?"
"Shouldn't you know that better than everyone else?" Ethan spat.
With a grim expression, he sighed and continued, "He travelled overseas recently and I haven't been able to get in touch with him. Did he contact you by any chance?"
"No, he didn't," Giselle answered as she grew slightly anxious. "Did you get someone to search for him? What if something happened to him? I haven't heard from him in weeks."
Ethan didn't seem concerned about Gideon's safety.
"He's a grown man. He'll be able to take care of himself. I just hope you can contact him and talk to him to see how he's doing."
"I—"
She had no choice but to tell him the truth.
"Gideon blocked my number ages ago. I can't contact him even if I wanted to. You're the person closest to him. You should be more concerned about his safety."
