Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 420

"Gideon's not married yet," Giselle quickly said, eager to steer the conversation away from him.

"I'm not really privy to his private life," she demurred, offering a vague response. "It's probably best if you just get the whole story from Ethan later. I think Grace has been hit hard enough today…"

At that, Dorothea nodded. Comforting Grace was the immediate priority, so the question of that mysterious bastard child would simply have to wait.

Weary from the family chaos, Donovan stepped outside the villa for a breath of fresh air. He lit a cigarette and began puffing away.

Not wanting to be alone with Dorothea, Giselle found an excuse to leave. Then, she joined him for a walk around the garden outside the villa.

Trying to lighten the mood, she laughed and teased, "Who would have thought that Ethan's life would turn out like a soap opera?"

"Well, it has nothing to do with me," Donovan coolly replied, always keeping himself detached.

As he said those words, he slowly exhaled another stream of smoke. His gaze lingered on Giselle through the haze.

Donovan looked as if he wanted to say something, but he held back. He simply stared at her intently.

"What are you looking at me like that for?" Giselle huffed. "If it has nothing to do with you, then it has even less to do with me. We're just bystanders watching a show."

"Yeah. Let's hope so," he said in a vague, unreadable tone.

Unable to tell what he meant, she joked again. "Hey, tell me the truth. Do you have a bastard child stashed somewhere?" she asked, grinning. "If you do, bring them home now!. That way, I can skip the hard part and become a mom instantly!

Hearing that, Donovan shot her a sideways glance and tapped her lightly on the head. "Have you eaten too much or what?"

Just as they were bantering, a basketball bounced over and landed near them.
