Vivienne fell silent at Giselle's words.
Giselle pressed on. "You need to be rational about this. You're not in your 40s or 50s, unable to have children again. You're still young, unmarried, beautiful, and you've built a steady career. You have endless possibilities ahead of you.
"Maybe in a few years you'll meet a man you truly love—someone whose family welcomes you. Together, you could build a stable, happy home. You could have a child that belongs only to you, a child who grows up with both parents, and you'd have the chance to live a full, normal life.
"But if you carry this pregnancy to the end, you'll be a single, unwed mother. How will you ever remarry? Even if you never plan to, the burden of raising a child will fall entirely on you, and that child will grow up in an incomplete family. Worse still, what if you want to keep the baby but Renee takes him by force? What then?"
Vivienne stayed quiet, her thoughts tangled.
"Vivienne, I'm saying this because I care about you," Giselle urged. "Having a child isn't a temporary choice—it's for life. You still have time while the fetus hasn't fully formed. Once you give birth, there's no turning back.
"I know Sebastian's death shattered you, but you have to stay calm. Renee only wants this baby for her family. Don't let her false pity or her money blur your judgment. Think carefully."
Vivienne's resolve wavered. One moment, Giselle's words swayed her; the next, Sebastian's memory pulled her back. At last, she spoke hesitantly.
She was so consumed with comforting Vivienne after Sebastian's sudden death that she was emotionally drained. She simply had no energy left to deal with her own life. As she stepped into the empty villa, the silence wrapped around her like a suffocating shroud.
It had been more than ten days since Donovan had asked for a divorce. Neither had reached out. Or rather, he hadn't—ignoring every message and call.
Now, Giselle didn't even know where he was abroad, or whether he was safe, or even alive. She lay sideways on the bed, picked up the divorce papers again, and read them carefully line by line.
