Through initial communication with the police, Giselle learned that all current evidence pointed to Donovan's guilt. Without conducting a deeper investigation to find evidence favorable to him, it would be nearly impossible to secure his bail. In just a couple of months, he could be sentenced and officially become a criminal, serving many years in an Astrakhan prison.

The situation was far more serious than anyone had anticipated. Securing his freedom quickly would be extremely difficult, and the Kane family's usual wealth and influence offered little advantage.

"Perhaps we should try to speak with the woman privately first," Ethan suggested.

In his view, the primary reason she had set up Donovan was money. Even if there were other motivations, money could potentially persuade her to drop the case.
