Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 488

Giselle couldn't understand Dorothea. Still, she patiently explained, "Mrs. Kane, did you watch the press conference at Astrakhan? I clarified that Donovan and I are divorced. If I am caught with him, it will hurt the reputation of Kane Group."

"Even then, you're not allowed to divorce!" Dorothea wasn't like herself at all. She snapped, "Did you ask for a divorce because you're upset about him and that woman at Astrakhan? That's pointless!

"You're not a petty woman. Why are you taking this so seriously?"

In the beginning, Dorothea strongly disliked Giselle. Yet, after everything that had happened in the last six months, she slowly changed her mind and gradually accepted Giselle.

Although she was disapproving of Giselle's lifestyle, she had long held admiration for Giselle since their first meeting.

Her opinion changed even more after noticing Giselle's response to Donovan's scandal in Astrakhan.

"Mrs. Kane, talk to Donovan. I guess this is goodbye." Giselle, who was nearing the brink of a breakdown, had no energy or mood to talk anymore. She hurried over to the garage, got into the car, and sped down the mountain without any hesitation.

She needed to leave this familiar place that she called home for good.

Ten minutes later, her car was cruising down the suburban roads away from the villa. Finally, she slowed down when she felt stuffy in the chest.

While driving, she replayed his cruel words in her mind. He had called her to get lost. Those words were like a stab to her heart, causing a dull ache.

This was not her first time scrambling to leave his world. She had long forgotten the pain from the first time, but the pain right now felt acute.

Finally, she blacked out, her senses numb. The broken pieces of the bottles were scattered around her as she fell into a slumber on the couch.

Perhaps, she could only be happy when she was asleep.

Giselle was woken up by her ringing phone at noon the next day. A raging headache hit her, and her body felt sore. She couldn't muster the energy to get up, and for a moment, she even had no idea where she was.

She gradually sobered up when the phone, buried deep in the couch, wouldn't stop ringing. She had to force herself to get up in a wave of dizziness but fell off the couch.
