Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 497

In Donovan's mind, Giselle had always been so spirited, charming, and witty. She was carefree, energetic, and fiery. Always full of life, she could do anything she wanted.

At this moment, Giselle was a broken shell of her former self. She lay quietly in the bed, no longer able to yell, kick up a scene, or make any infuriating comments.

She was silent and motionless.

Donovan stared vacantly at Giselle. He could no longer describe the amount of pain he was in. He felt as though he'd soon lose the ability to speak or move and crash out.

Three days ago, Giselle was still fine and well. She cried, yelled at him, and fought with him.

How did she end up like this when they met again?

He regretted giving her the cold shoulder for weeks. He regretted his incident involving another woman. He wished he had behaved a little less cold-blooded and assertive and had shown her more patience.

But it was too late.

Looking pale, he stared squarely at her. His throat tightened. No words came out.

He had no idea how to cope in the following days or even seconds.

Donovan inched closer to her bed with difficulty and crouched down beside it. He reached out and carefully held her finger. Feeling the chill at her fingertips, he felt a pain in his chest. He couldn't help but clench her hand, trying to warm her with his touch.

He wanted to hold onto her tighter, but he was scared to use more force, given that she looked lifeless and barely breathing. He worried he might somehow lose her for good.

Donovan said, a dangerous chill flickering in his gaze, "You have one minute to vanish completely. Show up again, and I'll kill you."

Gideon, who was frayed by anxiety, snapped unexpectedly.

Blood coursing through his veins, he threw a punch at Donovan's head.

"Donovan, you bastard! You're a scumbag!"Gideon spat, pointing at him. "How dare you blame me? In the end, it's you who ruined her! I could have given her the happiest marriage, the best life in the world. Yet, you had to come and wreck it…

"You were cruel and shameless. You stole her from me, but all you knew was tormenting her! If you hadn't made her suffer, abandoning her time and again, she wouldn't have sought those dangerous activities for an outlet.

"It's you! You bastard—you ruined her! If you hadn't trapped her in that damned marriage, she'd still be healthy and well!"
