Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 496

Donovan and Gideon nearly ran toward the hospital staff when they emerged from the operating room.

"Who's the family of Giselle Holt?" asked the leading physician.

"It's me," Donovan replied in a low voice. "I'm her husband. How is she?"

Judging from the serious look on the doctor's face, he could tell that things didn't look good.

"Ms. Holt is in stable condition after five hours of operation to save her life. But we cannot say when she will wake up. The severe impact to her head has led to an intracerebral hemorrhage.

"Besides that, she suffered from fractures and injuries to her internal organs. After a series of operations, we managed to save her life, but we can't tell what will happen in the future. If she wakes up in five days, we can say she's safe.

"Anyway, as her family, please be mentally prepared for the worst."

The leading physician was basically warning them that Giselle might die at any time.

Donovan felt cold from head to toe. He froze for a long time.

On the other hand, Gideon felt slightly comforted by the knowledge. Since witnessing Giselle's fall, he'd constantly lived in the fear of her imminent death.

Just now, when the doctor opened the doors, Gideon assumed he was going to inform them of Giselle's death.

Now that the doctor confirmed that Giselle was in a stable condition and stood a chance, he felt slightly relaxed.

Gideon backed off and stepped aside, as he didn't want to start a fight with Donovan under such circumstances.

As Giselle's family, Donovan changed into a protective suit and hurried into the ICU.

Right after he stepped into the ICU, he froze when he saw Giselle in the bed. The closer he moved over to her, the heavier his steps became.

It took him a while to walk to her bed.

On the hospital bed lay Giselle, an oxygen mask over her mouth, tubes running across her body. Her eyes were shut tight, and her face paler than paper. She looked utterly broken. Beside her, the ventilator screen traced the faint thread of her life.

Donovan stood rigidly at her bedside, staring blankly at her. He was almost unable to recognize her.
