Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 509

Adrian and another staff member rushed forward to help him, but he shoved them away violently. His eyes blazed with uncontrollable rage as he stormed into the funeral hall, overturning wreaths and other ceremonial items like a man possessed. He yelled at everyone attending the funeral, "Get out! All of you, get out!"

The crowd froze in shock, backing away in disbelief at his frenzy. Ethan quickly ordered Adrian and Zachary to intercept him, fearing he might do something even more extreme.

Grace, as always, stayed on the sidelines, silently observing with a smug, almost entertained expression. Renee, on the other hand, had been anticipating this day for some time, feeling a quiet relief in her chest, though she had come only to keep up appearances.

Meanwhile, Dorothea wiped away her tears and shook her head, unable to find the words. As Donovan's mother, she had never imagined that her son could be so completely overtaken by his love for a woman, driven to a state of profound despair.

"Mom, don't you think Don is overreacting?" Grace whispered to Dorothea. "I mean, when Dad died of a heart attack, Don didn't shed a single tear. He even had the energy to attend a meeting that same evening. Now his wife is dead, and look at him—he is like a man possessed, lashing out at everyone around him."

Dorothea shook her head and sighed. "Just let him be. Let him scream and let it out. It's better than the silence of the past few days. Once he gets through the worst of it, he'll be fine."

"Where are her ashes?" Donovan struggled to get the words out, fixing Ethan with a murderous glare. "Did you decide on your own to scatter them at sea? Tell me!"

Ethan took a deep breath. "No. Just wait a little longer."

At that moment, his mind seemed to short-circuit. He sank to the ground, reaching desperately to open the box.

"Don! Stop!" Ethan was the first to rush forward, shouting urgently. "You can't open it! You can't see it!"

Dorothea quickly called for help. "Someone stop him! Don't let him see what's inside! Keep him from opening it!"
