Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 523

In the days following Giselle's passing, Donovan had been too dejected to pursue the truth behind her death. Now that he'd started to pull himself back together, Gideon—the man responsible for everything—finally crossed his mind.

"Has he moved abroad for good?" he asked.

"Yeah," Ethan replied.

Ethan's expression turned solemn as he continued, "Now that Giselle's no longer with us, I'm sure he feels incredibly guilty about it. If he continued to stay in the country, the two of you might constantly be at odds with each other. So…"

"Actually, I'm the one who asked him to move abroad," he added. "I think it's best if he never comes back."

Since Ethan had already made such a decision, Donovan didn't see any point in pressing the matter further. There was nothing he could do to bring Giselle back anyway…

"Let's talk business," he changed the topic as he sat on the couch.

Ethan walked over and took a seat beside him. Then, he started casually talking to him about the progress of the acquisition project.

When they touched on the financial status of the company they were acquiring, Ethan said, "Oh, right. Linus Fern from Finance sent me some screenshots. Here—take a look."

Then, he clicked on a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with a senior executive from the Finance Department and showed it to Donovan.

Donovan cast a quick glance at the screen. Once he looked through the first photo, he reached forward and swiped to the next. Then, after studying the second photo for two minutes, he moved on to the third.

After Donovan had gone through all three screenshots of the financial statements, he instinctively swiped down again—only to find himself looking at a completely different photo.

Ethan was mortified. Thankfully, a video call request popped up at that exact moment, obscuring the image on his screen.

He continued, "That's why I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable right now. I just don't want my family to know about the events from my past."

Upon hearing this, Donovan didn't think much of the matter and replied coolly, "I don't really care about such trivial matters that don't have anything to do with me. You don't need to get so worked up about it."

"That's great to hear," replied Ethan.

Sighing, he changed the topic and asked, "By the way, Don, regarding Anne getting released on bail due to her pregnancy… I'm kind of in a tough spot right now. Do you think we should get a couple more lawyers and discuss—"

"That won't be necessary," Donovan interjected as he emotionlessly stared out of the window. "Withdraw the lawsuit. You don't have to pursue the matter any further."

"Withdraw the lawsuit?"
