Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 537

Around 1:00 am, Gideon quietly went to the hospital to check on the critically ill Giselle, whose fate hung in the balance. However, Tony called him outside to a private residence, where Ethan was already waiting.

Tony's face was grim that night as he delivered the news that Giselle might never wake. Modern medicine could keep her body alive, but her mind could be lost forever.

Even if she regained consciousness, her speech would be broken, her movements stiff and uncoordinated, and her intellect severely impaired. In short, Giselle had no hope of returning to a normal life. She would either be trapped in a vegetative state or reduced to a shadow of herself.

The thought of Giselle becoming a lifelong burden to Donovan and even disturbing the Kanes' peace was unbearable. They decided it was better to cut the pain short than let it drag on.

Ethan made a cold, swift decision. He would team up with Tony to fabricate news of Giselle's death so that Donovan could grieve briefly and then finally let go.

Tony understood the situation clearly. As Giselle's biological father, he could put aside the chaos of his own marriage and personal life. If her condition were truly irreversible, letting her continue to weigh on the Kanes and Donovan for the rest of their lives would be cruel. It made more sense to hide her away and take full responsibility for the remainder of her days himself.

On the other hand, Tony also considered that if everyone believed Giselle was dead, Renee would finally give up and stop causing trouble, and the Holts would find complete peace.

Over the following year, Giselle lived in a secluded countryside villa abroad to recover. The villa was equipped with top-tier medical facilities, and a foreign medical team monitored her closely. The environment was calm and secure, a place free from noise, tears, mockery, or scheming.

Gradually, Giselle emerged from her coma. First, she opened her eyes. Then she spoke a word, then a phrase, then a full sentence. Soon, she could move slightly, eat, and slowly roll over.

She fought her way back from death. She awoke fully, without paralysis, memory loss, or cognitive impairment, though the ordeal had left her with serious lingering effects.
