Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 541

Gideon waved Ethan off lazily. "Enough, don't bother with the lectures."

"Remember what I just said," Ethan reminded him one last time. "Keep a close eye on her. At the very least, don't let her interfere until Donovan is remarried."

From Ethan's perspective, he had finally used the fake death news to remove Giselle—the troublemaker—from Donovan's world. It brought him some satisfaction, and he would never allow her to cause chaos in the Kane family again.

With that said, Ethan left the house and drove away.

Gideon watched the car pull away, then turned back inside, only to find Giselle standing against the doorframe, wearing a blank expression.

"Giselle!" he called, rushing over. "When did you wake up? You don't look well at all. Did you have another nightmare?"

Giselle remained silent. Her gaze was vacant, and her fingers tightened around the doorframe.

"What's wrong?" he asked gently.

"I heard everything you just said to your father," she finally said.

Gideon frowned. "What did you hear?"

"I'm sorry," Gideon said, quickly steadying her. "I shouldn't have been so blunt. I forgot what you could handle. Come on, let me help you to bed."

Giselle felt utterly drained, both in body and mind. She let Gideon support her as he helped her back to the bedroom, where she sank against the headboard.

She closed her eyes, trying to sleep, but Ethan's words echoed in her mind.

She couldn't stop thinking about Donovan's impending marriage. She imagined him standing at a grand wedding, holding his new bride's hand and walking down the aisle under the blessings of thousands. The thought made her head pound unbearably.

At 10:00 pm, Gideon was in the study on a video call with the company's executives back home when a sudden scream rang out from Giselle's room. Startled, he leaped to his feet and dashed toward her.
