Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 566

Giselle had been on Haleona, on one of the smaller islands of Usna, for four or five days since flying in from Cambria.

This was the fifth-largest island of Haleona. It was not as bustling as the other islands. Its landscapes felt wilder and more mysterious, and most of the residents were indigenous.

Carrying only a small bag and with her dog by her side, Giselle had taken a car to a coastal area far from the town.

She had temporarily settled in with a local family. The man of the house had passed away, and the woman had left to earn a living elsewhere, leaving behind only an elderly woman, a ten-year-old girl, and a lame border collie who relied on one another for companionship.

On the very first night of her arrival, Giselle treated the injured dog, healing its limp. She also found a companion for her own dog, Kali, and in return, she received a warm welcome from the elderly woman, Enya Decker, and the little girl, Hailey Summer.

The island offered an endless ocean, lush, untouched forests, waterfalls with dramatic drops, a live volcano, and other awe-inspiring natural wonders.

Nestled in the heart of the vast Marindor Sea, the island lay thousands of miles from the nearest continents, far removed from the chaos of the world. The only sounds that reached her were the crashing waves and the cries of seagulls.

Here, Giselle felt no loneliness, only peace.

That morning, Giselle grabbed a bucket and a few small tools and followed Hailey out to a stretch of tidal flats newly uncovered by the receding sea.

The sun shone warmly overhead, and a soft breeze drifted in from the ocean.
