Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 573

Giselle stepped barefoot onto the soft, fine sand. The cool sea breeze brushed against her skin as the rhythmic sound of waves crashing ashore filled her ears. She found herself staring blankly at the endless stretch of blue before her.

She didn't want to talk to Donovan, yet she had to admit that her mood was gradually improving. The dizziness had faded, the weight in her chest had lifted, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a calm she had never known back in Cambria.

Here, far from the noise of the world, she felt as if her soul was finally being healed.

She crouched on the beach and picked up a tiny hermit crab, watching absentmindedly as its claws traced faint lines in the sand. Her mind went blank, and she didn't even notice when the waves crept up and soaked the hem of her dress.

After wandering along the shore for more than an hour, she heard Donovan calling her name from a distance, telling her to come back for dinner.

Her stomach was already growling. Knowing there was nowhere else to get food, she had no choice but to return to the cabin with her dog.

When she entered the small living area, she was greeted by the sight of several dishes neatly arranged on the wooden table. The savory aroma reached her before she even got close.

Donovan pulled out a pack of wipes and carefully cleaned the small stool several times until it was spotless. Then he gently guided her to sit down.

"Eat a little for now. Tomorrow, we'll go into town and get the ingredients you like," he said.

Giselle looked at the table and saw several dishes, including a seafood omelet, steamed crab, pan-seared fish, and crispy shrimp with herbs. There were also two simple side dishes Enya had prepared.

Almost everything came from the seafood she and Hailey had gathered earlier. She hadn't expected Donovan to turn them into such a hearty, delicious-looking meal. The presentation alone was impressive enough to make her hungry.
