Breaking Mr. Cold (Giselle and Donovan) novel Chapter 642

It turned out that after the forensic autopsy, Benjamin hadn't died from the fall at all. His real cause of death was mechanical asphyxiation. In other words, he was strangled first before being thrown off the building.

Logically, it should've been a cakewalk catching the culprit behind a serious crime like this in a five-star hotel.

But the police said all the surveillance cameras inside and outside the hotel had been sabotaged in advance. They screened the hotel staff, yet found no suspects. They also analyzed the footage from before the cameras were damaged, but still came up empty-handed.

It sounded absurd for the killer to slip away unnoticed after committing a murder at a crowded wedding. This fact, however, proved how skilled the culprit was at evading police detection.

The police might've failed to determine the culprit for now, but they would continue to investigate and analyze every clue. Catching the killer was only a matter of time.

After hearing this from the police, Donovan's expression grew sullen.

Once he was back home, he'd lock himself in the study and stare into space, puffing nonstop on his cigarette. He was brooding, and no one knew what he was thinking. He looked like someone had punched the living daylights out of him.

Giselle saw how he'd been acting lately, but didn't ask anything.

Now that Benjamin was gone, the villa felt shrouded in grief. Even the housekeepers teared up when they talked about him.

He wasn't family, but he'd been loyal, capable, and diligent. He'd taken impeccable care of Donovan and the whole Kane family. He wasn't someone who could be easily replaced.

Benjamin's absence unsettled Giselle. It felt like losing a family member, and the house suddenly felt cold and unfamiliar.

Worse still, whenever she tried to sleep, she'd recall the horrifying screams and gruesome scenes from the wedding. Sleep eluded her every night.
