Kemp pouted.
To be honest, he was quite good at playing the part of a spoiled fool.
He blinked innocently, then put his hands on his hips and shouted, "How should I know? I told you, I was sleeping! He's just a new worker. Do I have to watch him every second?"
His arrogant demeanor made many of the workers' mouths twitch.
They couldn't believe this Kemp, who relied on his uncle in management, not only threw his weight around with other workers but also dared to be so casual in front of the big boss.
Parker's eyes darted around before he quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Mr. Grayson, I've spoiled my nephew rotten. Please don't mind him. I'll be sure to teach him a lesson when we get back."
As he spoke, he couldn't help but size up the short figure.
Hanley was already annoyed, and Kemp's attitude was like salt in the wound.
"Parker, if you bring another idiot into my factory, you can get out too!"
He roared, venting his frustration.
Being called an idiot, Kemp was not happy. "Is he someone important?" he whined. "Do I have to keep an eye on him while I'm sleeping? Can I only sleep when he's around?"
Parker, looking exasperated, grabbed him and yelled, "Shut up! Is that any way to speak to Mr. Grayson?"
Seeing his uncle truly angry, Kemp finally pouted and lowered his head, though his wandering eyes showed he was still defiant.
Hanley's brow was tightly furrowed, but he knew he had more important things to deal with.
"Victor came to the factory because Ruby sent him. Now that he's vanished without a trace, the only place to find him is at Ruby's," the masked person said in a low voice that sounded strangely like they were gritting their teeth.
Hanley's fists clenched. "Go to Ruby's to find him? On what grounds? I don't have a legitimate reason."
A moment of silence hung in the air.
"That's your problem," the masked person said, turning their back. "Do you want Ruby to have something to hold over you?"
Those words made Hanley stiffen. He knew he had no other choice.
He glared at the crowd of workers with frustration.
They couldn't even keep an eye on one person!
If this person hadn't contacted him tonight, he would have never known that Domingo had been taken away!
Hanley cracked his knuckles. Parker stood nearby, not daring to look up, his forehead slick with sweat.
He just hoped Victor wouldn't forget about them after he got out.
As he was thinking this, he suddenly felt the oppressive atmosphere lift.
He dared to look up and saw that Hanley and the short figure had already left.
He breathed a sigh of relief and quickly pulled Kemp away from the scene.
"The factory is full of cameras. Hanley was in too much of a hurry to check them, but if he decides to, we'll be implicated. You need to contact Victor and the others as soon as possible."
Parker's face was grave, and the sweat on his forehead glistened under the bright lights.
Kemp's heart sank as he realized the severity of the situation.
His uncle was usually laid-back. He wouldn't look like this unless it was something urgent.
"Okay."
Kemp's expression tightened. He agreed to call Victor as soon as he got back to his dorm.
By the time he returned to his room and turned on the light, it was less than three hours until dawn.
