A moment later, the source of that voice appeared at the cave entrance.
Mu Lihua, Su Qinglan’s so-called mother, marched in without a care, her messy hair hanging around her shoulders. Her face was twisted into a sneer as she looked at the food laid out before everyone.
"Wow," she said with narrowed eyes. "So much food. You didn’t even think to call your mother, huh?"
Before anyone could stop her, she shoved her dirty hand straight into the big bowl and stuffed a handful into her mouth.
The sound of her chewing echoed in the quiet cave.
Su Qinglan’s eyes darkened instantly. Without thinking, she lifted her chopsticks and smacked the woman’s hand away.
"Mother is really something," she said coldly, sarcasm dripping from every word. "You didn’t even wash before eating, and you dare to stick your filthy hand in someone else’s bowl? Aren’t you afraid you’ll get worms in your stomach?"
Mu Lihua’s face twisted even more, turning red with rage. "You little bitch!" she shouted.
"Is that how you talk to your mother? You didn’t even offer me food, but you’re happily feeding your father? What kind of ungrateful daughter are you!?"
Hu Yan’s tail puffed slightly, and Xuan Long’s killing intent flickered for a second before he suppressed it.
Su Qinglan glared back, ready to answer, but her father quickly stood and held up his hand, trying to calm things down. "Mu Lihua, that’s enough," he said, his tone tired.
"It’s not what you think. Qinglan only wanted to let you rest, so she asked me to bring food to you later. That’s all."
But Su Qinglan’s eyes stayed cold. In her heart, she wanted nothing more than to throw this woman out of the cave.
Everything was fine here, but why did this witch of a mother of hers decide to come here? Definitely not to find out about her well-being; more likely she was here to see how she dared to come back alive.
She didn’t care what excuses were made... Mu Lihua had always been disgusting to her. Always there to humiliate her, to stir trouble, to make the life miserable of the original owner.
And now, even after everything, this woman still had the nerve to storm in and ruin a peaceful morning.
Su Qinglan sighed quietly, forcing herself not to explode. But her knuckles were white around her chopsticks.
On the other hand, Mu Lihua’s expression turned strange as she forcefully sat there, her eyes darting between the food and Su Qinglan.
She had heard just yesterday that this little bitch had disappeared for two days. Her other daughters had told her, and she had been secretly happy about it.
Maybe, finally, this one had died somewhere in the forest, eaten by beasts. But no...early in the morning, she heard the news that Su Qinglan had actually come back. Alive.
Her heart twisted with hate. How could this bitch be so lucky?
So she came rushing here, pretending to "check" on her, but truthfully, she wanted to see what really happened...why she had suddenly disappeared. She still needed to keep her eyes on her, after all. But the moment she stepped into the cave, her anger flared to the top.
