“Engaged? We don’t use that term.” Maximus furrowed his brows slightly because of the term that Declan used. “What are you trying to
tell me?”
Engagement was something that human used for their relationship, but for the shifter, they were more straightforward with their partner, especially when you were fated mate, since you would spend the rest of your life together.
“No, I didn’t mean that kind of engagement.” Declan shook his head, and Maximus became annoyed because he could feel the hesitation from his royal beta.
“Spit it out, Declan. I don’t have a patient for that.”
“She was originally the alpha’s
“Good.”
Alpha Caden rejected her when he realized she was his fated mate.”
Declan looked at Maximus, who took things very good so far. The king thought, if Caden didn’t reject her, he wouldn’t get his hand on Rania. He would be still mateless,
would always think it was his karma.
Maximus didn’t care about the super align pr
superstitious held no power over him.
“But,” Declan hesitated
“Should I rip your mouth, so you
that
a
rejected mate was a bad luck. He had been calling worse growing up, such
an talk faster?” Maxim 20
became even more aggravated with the way his beta talking.
“She was born from a beta father, but she is an omega now, she is below your rank.” Declan looked uneasy. “People will sneer at you for having an omega as your destined mate. It will ruin your reputation too.”
“Ruin my reputation?” Maximus’s voice turned very cold. “Do you think I am going to ruin my reputation because I took her as my mate? What reputation that I have all this time?” He chuckled menacingly.
People had called him with so many degrading names. They disliked him as the king of the werewolf, calling him as a Mad King, which Maximus took pride on it. He was a madness, and he liked it that way.
“So, it’s two broken people that the Moon Goddess matched. What a funny way the Goddess found my match. Even she still tried to mock me in this way.”
Declan watched how Maximus wouldn’t be discouraged by Rania’s rank, he seemed very chill about it.
However, the real deal was not about Rania’s rank, Declan himself couldn’t care less about such thing. The real shit was what he said
next
“She has been engaging in a sexual relationship with alpha Caden,” Declan finally blurted it out. “People called her as the alpha’s toy. The alpha’s plaything, the alpha’s whore, and many degrading name.”
“Max, I don’t think this is a good idea for you to take her as your mate. The public will sneer at you for taking a secondhand woman. 1 think you should reject her. She is a lustful woman, and…”
Even though people feared Maximus as the mad king, but they still talked behind his back, about it was a karma that he was mateless.
Therefore, if he took a woman like Rania as his mate, it would only ruin Maximus even more. People would mock him, saying that the Moon Goddess hated him.
Declan could already imagine what they were going to say behind the king’s back. They were disgusting to talk behind someone else’s back, but there was nothing that could completely stop them.
“Tell me more.” He crossed his arms and legs, and brushed off the shattered glass in his hand.
Blood coated his front shirt, but he ignored it. Blood was not something unusual for him though, since he had bathed on it before.
What else do you know?”
Declan then told him the rumor about
Rania, but all of those would include alpha Caden, how she pursued the alpha, and in the end, the alpha relented and he used her as his plaything to satisfy his needs, and Rania was content with that.
“Because her life will be easier if she has someone like an alpha as her backup.” Declan told himself to stop, but instead he kept talking. “She has been sexually active ever since she was so young. This is the reason why she was kicked out of the beta’s house and why the alpha rejected her.”
In this light, Rania looked very bad. The image of Rania in Declan’s report was nothing, but a wild girl.
Maximus listened to that, but Declan could see how the gear in his head was turning. The king seemed to realize his impulsiveness had caused him an insult to his face.
And after the realization came the anger. This wa
the kind of anger that could destroy everything, anything that he touched.
